Hey all,

I will be travelling to SEA from mid-July to mid September (just under 2 1/2 months). I have posted on Lonely Planet forums, but this site appears to be the best of the best when it comes to SEA, so I thought I would try and get some opinions on here as well.

Since this is the Vietnam destination part, I thought I would stick to that, and post my itinerary up for the other countries in the relevant sections. Here is my planned itinerary:

Hanoi - 3 days
Ha Long Bay - 3 day 2 nights cruise (want some kayaking)
Sapa - 3 days
Thanh Hoa - 3 days (going here to meet a friend)
Hue - 2 days
Hoi An - 1 1/2 days
HCMC - 3 days
Mekong Delta - 2 days

What do people think of this? Anything I should add, change etc?

Also, rough budget for this time if I try to live cheap?

Thanks people. I have posted up other itineraries for Thailand (20 days), Cambodia (12 days), Laos (11 days)

Looks fine, though how are you planning to get from place to place -- Vietnam's a long long place and getting from A to B can take up significant amounts of time, so don't forget to factor that into your planning.

This is a frequently asked question.

Have a look at:
< http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/3756_3-weeks-in-the-nam-what-do-u-guys-think/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/3653_any-tips---taking-the-train-Saigon-to-Hanoi--/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/3085_Trying-to-keep-to-no-more-than-a-3-week-trip/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/3035_Feb-March---South-to-North-best-way-to-go-/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/2357_Land-travel-tips-pleeeeease--Saigon-to-Hanoi/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/2916_Itinerary-Help--4-weeks-in-Vietnam/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/2875_Travel-South-to-North/0 >, < http://www.travelfish.org/board/post/vietnam/2861_Sleeper-train-from-Hanoi-to-Ho-Chi-Minh-via-Hue/0 >.

Budgets are very personal inasmuch some Travellers think USD$4 is an expensive sleep whilst others want something a little better.

Describe what you are looking for in terms of luxury or how much / what you eat and it will be easier to help.
