We are currently in Nha Trang and will be moving to Hoi An in a couple of days time. Our plan after that was to go from Hue to Hanoi for a couple of days and do a tour of Halong bay overnight. We have been searching for an up to date report on Hanoi after the flooding and if it is not somewhere we should be going at the moment we were wondering if we can do a halong bay tour from Hue or somewhere else and skip Hanoi regretably all together if it's a no go area??
I'd organise the trip from Hanoi -- not Hue. The floodwaters have dissipated somewhat and by the time you get there should not be too much of an issue. Hanoi will still be pretty muddy (very in fact) but still absolutely worth seeing and experiencing.
