Travelling to Vietnam in August doing the North to South route. When we get down to the South fancy spending some time on a beach. We are interested in snorkelling and diving. Have tried to book Whale Island but fully booked has anyone got any suggestions

Whale Island is nice, cnicolle. Give them a call when you're in Hoi An to see if there were any cancellations. If not take a flight from HCMC down to Phu Quoc island. Other good snorkelling/diving places are Cham Island from Hoi An and the remote Con Dao islands, which have the best diving sites but where all hotels charge you at least about 16 USD for a room without breakfast. I really like Con Dao, nice forest and good beaches, but completely undeveloped. You can fly 3 times a week from HCMC.
