I want to do 3 or 4 days trekking arond sapa staying in homestays. Just wondering if it is cheaper and better to book in Sapa or to organise in Hanoi?
Any info or advice on these treks and sapa would be great

You'll do better arranging it in Sapa -- see the sights section on the Sapa page for more information.

I had good luck with the guy at Friendly Hotel in Sapa. He hooked us up with a reasonably priced private tour. Our guide was a very nice young Hmong woman who spoke excellent English. She took us to villages where there were no other tourists, and did a good job of explaining things to us. It was among the more memorable experiences of our trip here in Vietnam so far.
