Remote sounds like heaven. We only have 4 1/2 weeks in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and just want to laze away the last few days before we head home.............
Phu Quoc is LOVELY - probably going to be a Travelfish 10/10 and I'm here in off-season when the weather isn't so hot - but even then it is still awesome. I could easily spend a week+ here -- loads of secluded bays, excellent food, stunning beaches ahhh I could go on and on!
At the moment Sao Beach has just one place to stay - simple wooden bungalows with fan and private bath starting at 150,000D a night (upto 220,000D for front row. There's two big restaurants on the beach and it gets pretty busy at lunch, but is otherwise deserted. As Rene says above, it is pretty isolated - best to hire a mopede while you're here to see the rest of the island (m'bike 90-100,000D per day)
The bulk of the places are on Long Beach - I'm at the Beach Club and it is excellent ($12 for a bungalow) am yet to check the other places yet (I was distracted by some powder white sand and some fish cooked in clay pot yesterday...)
If you planning on just a few days here.... try to squeeze a few more out of your itinerary... you won't regret it.
I'll get the full write-up of Phu Quoc onto Travelfish sometime next week.
Hey Sontam, sounds like you're having a hard time there.... Don't forget to do the north-east part of the island by motorbike (start west via Ong Lang beach and then thru the forest), it's gooooooood fun ! You will have earned your Tiger beers on the beach and whatever. Tip local restaurant: Gop Gio. Cheers ! Rene.
Just got back from another hard morning - started early, off to Bai Sao, north to Bai Vong, seafood lunch out on the pier at Ham Ninh, then north via the jungle road, early afternoon drinks at Coral Bay - awesome... to bad I have to leave tomorrow...

Hi Steviej,
I know I keep putting you off on Phu Quoc, but I'm heading there in two weeks time - can you wait that long? ;-)

Hi Steviej, back in march there were already a couple of places to stay.
It's pretty remote though. Beach is fine. Should be ok for a few days.
