Hi travelfishers,
Has anyone been through the delta in the last couple of weeks since the flooding has begun? We are in Cambodia at the moment and were planning do do a slow trip through the delta before meeting friends in Saigon.
I am wondering if it is still possible/worthwhile to do this trip at the moment (the BBC claims that 90% of the area is under water) or are we better to spend more time in Cambodia and get the bus straight from PP to Saigon?
Any thoughts?

Hi chunk79,
Welcome to Travelfish!
I was in the Delta about ten days ago (going back there on Monday --be glad to get out of freezing Sydney town!) and during that trip, while there was a lot of rain, I saw no flooding and was able to get everywhere I wanted without problem. The only issue was the boats out to Phu Quoc which were cancelled due to bad weather, so I flew there from Rach Gia -- no big deal there.
Phu Quoc is stunning by the way!
Have fun

thanks sontam,
We are heading to Phu Quoc from Saigon later in the month - I am looking forward to it. Good to know that the delta is ok - I think I might have misunderstood the news report I saw on TV here a couple of days ago.
We might head straight into the delta rather than going to the beaches in Cambodia seeing as the roads are apparently cut off at the moment. Might have to wait for Phu Quoc for our fill of beaches.
chunk.
