Hi, we are thinking of travelling to Vietnam end of September / early October. As this is bang in the middle of the rainy season, we were wondering how much hassle that causes? We dont mind the odd drop (or torrential downpour) of rain but dont have enough time to wait for roads to clear after flooding ... Can anyone help?

Some years Central VN has mild weather - sometimes it is a nightmare (3 years ago eye of a major typhoon passed over Danang). What is the probability of bad weather? the last few years worldwide more extreme weather so who knows?

My personal opinion is never let the weather put your travels off. It rained here and there while we were in Vietnam but didn't last that long. So everything was fine.

We were in Vietnam for the second half of September, North, Middle and South, and hardly saw any rain - but narrowly missed typhoon Ketsana which flooded Hue and the central area. Keep an eye on the weather and keep your schedule flexible.

Important: Vietnam has an almost annual typhoon in September/Oct. If there is one, it will play havoc on your trip - heavy flooding, cancelled, flights, etc.
The only questions is, are you feeling lucky?
