I am organizing a trip to Halong bay around the 20th of November and am not sure how long I should plan on going for (2 or 3 Day). It sounds as though the longer trip has time for sunbathing, swimming, kayaking etc but I am not sure if the weather in November is nice enough for that. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
Our researcher in Vietnam has just finished doing three consecutive Ha Long bay tours one after the other -- we'll be running a series of stories on "picking the right tour" over the next week or so -- so, if you can hold on that long, I'll drop another message into this thread when we start running them.
There in a couple of days! Any info on the research? If not I'll take the advice on the other thread and go with the people that go to Ocean beach resort.
we should have the Halong feature on the site sometime tomorrow -- I'll add a heads-up to this thread when they're online.
The features are not so much specific recommendations on operators (there's some 500 junks registered with the Vn govt -- the researcher did three separate trips with different outfits -- there would have been a coup if I'd asked him to try more!), but rather a guideline on what you get for your money and what to look for in a tour and most importantly, what questions to ask before agreeing to book!
Ok the Ha Long bay stories are now on the site - what began as a brief story has exploded into a five part series! There's a lot to read -- but we hope you find it of use.
The first Ha Long Bay story is here, and there's links within it to the others.
