I am planning to be in northern Vietnam for about a week in early Jan 2007. I expect cold temperatures in Sapa, but what about Hanoi and Halong Bay? Is it likely to be chilly/rainy/foggy in these areas in January? I found average temps for January but am also wondering if we will likely see the sun!
Hanoi will be cool to cold, but you shouldn't get too much rain -- I'd expect a fair amount of sunshine, but some frosty mornings -- Sapa at night will be COLD!

For weather charts all over VN, click: < http://www.vietnam.virtuallythere.ca/weather/wpopmstr.htm >
You can buy cheap (i.e. disposable) clothing at the Russian Market in Ha Noi. Before you leave Sa Pa give it too the locals, they will apreciate it.
