I'm Going to be in Ho chi minh city for a few days and sihanoukville in Cambodia has been highly recommended. Our plan originaly was to go to Phnom Pehn and siem reap so im hoping it wouldnt be so difficult to just start down south and work my way up.
I was told that a bus would be the best way to go but i read somewhere that it is easier to go to phnom phen and then to sihanoukville but that seems like alot of hassle.
Can anyone help me with this?

it all depends on how much time you have. you can get a bus from HCM to ha tien(border). cross the border and catch a bus to sihanoukville. since this is not a common route you might pay more money. if you have time, catch a bus straight to phnom penh, then from there go down south to sihanoukville (5-6 hours). and from sihanoukville, your gonna have to back track to phnom penh in order to get to siem reap. there are no buses that go straight to siem reap without stopping at phnom penh. i did this route and had no problem back tracking, but then again i had a lot of time on my hands.
