I've booked with Et Pumpkin (two days, sleep on boat) for the first half of November. Anyone has any experience with this agency; sofar the information I received is OK.
Second question is: will the weather (generally spoken) be OK for swimming in this time of year?
We also booked a 3 days Sapa tour (one night hotel, one night with local people), travelling on the Et Pumpkin express. Similar question: has anyone experience with this trip organised by Et Pumpkin?

Seems you are asking too late - now you've put your money down.
'Et Pumpkin' appears to have reasonable commissions - the 'Et Pumpkin express' is just the regular nightly train.
Let us know what you think of the operator - they used to have an office in Lao Cai a couple of years ago but I don't see it any more.
Take a wire coat hanger with you (unwind and secure the roomette door to the bunk); place your baggage in the lockers under the bottom bunks on the train and take a few spare T-shirts in case you get cold - and a hooded rain jacket (cheap in Ha Noi) - and see if you can get the shower option!

Thank you for your info. I haven't put my money away yet, I just made the reservations, paying in Hanoi when we start our trip(s).
On another forum (Virtual Tourist) they have quite a good reputation.
The contacts I had sofar give a positive impression, but its only email.
But I'll let you know or experiences with them!
