we'll go from savannakhet(laos) to Dong Ha (vietnam)
can we get a visa 4 vietnam in Savannakhet?
how many days does it take?
what does it cost?
is it possible to get the visa anywhere else in the south of laos (we'll enter laos from cambodia)like Pakse or Champasak?
or should we get our visa 4 vietnam in Phnom Penh?
(we'll have to wait 4 our laos visa anyway)
what would this cost us? |

Yes you can get a visa in Savannakhet. You can read the details on getting a Vietnamese visa in Savannakhet here.
I think it's possible to arrange them in Pakse, but I'm not 100% sure of that. Not in Champasak.
Vietnamese visas in Phnom Penh are straightforward to arrange - either by going to the embassy yourself (recommended) or doing it via a travel agent. Cost varies depending on how quick you need it -- expect to pay around $25-30 depending on the service you opt for. ------------------------------ Phuket Travelfish Guide -- everything you'll ever need to know about Phuket. thanks. found out there's a consolate (only) in champasak & pakse.
should we fill in the application form (download from internet ) or is this only necessary when doing a direct "visa on arrival"?

You'll need to fill out the form when you apply for the visa at the consulate -- they'll have a supply of them I'm sure, so no real need to get it off the net.
A consulate in Chamapask -- that's a surprise! If you could post their details here would be appreciated as I'll add it into the site.

Is it possible to get a Vietnam visa in Luang Prabang or Vientiane? We are going from Vientiane to Hanoi and need to sort our visas before then.
We had originally planned to get our visas in Bangkok but as we only arrive on a Friday evening we will need to spend the weekend in Bangkok, then apply for visas on Monday morning and then wait the 1-4 working days for the visa which eats in to our time. Is there anyway we can rush through a visa in Bangkok in a day or so?
Also I have seen travel agents on the web advertising visa on arrival for HCMC and Hanoi? Is this a safe and reliable method for obtaining a visa for Vietnam?
Thanks

You can obtain a Vietnam tourist visa (30 days) for $30 in Phnom Penh. It takes one day to process and for some reason cheaper than obtaining one from the Vietnam embassy. I got mine from a travel agent called "Worldwide Travel" near Boeng Kak Lake. BKL is refered as the Lakeside or backpacker area. |

We are going from Hue into Laos, crossing over at Lao Bao. We hope to visit Laos for a week. Can we get the visa for Laos at the border (Lao Bao)? |

Could someone please answer the question from above I think was missed..
"Is it possible to get a Vietnam visa in Luang Prabang or Vientiane? "
We are going from Chang Mai to Laos (overland) and then We are going from Luang Prabang to Hanoi (flying). Then from Saigon to PP Cambodia (overland) we currently have no visas so please advise the best way to sort it out.
Thanks so much! |

Yes you can get a visa for Vietnam in Vientiane. I'm not sure about Luang Prabang though. perhaps contact the embassy in Vientiane and ask -- another tack could be to get an agent in Luang prabang to run your passport down to VTE but that would take a few ideas, and no ideas on what it would cost.
For Cambodia I'd suggest getting visa on arrival. ------------------------------ Phuket Travelfish Guide -- everything you'll ever need to know about Phuket. Just $4.95
