Hi -

My husband and I are currently in Thailand and are planning to go to Myanmar in the next couple of weeks. Today at the visa office a girl told us that she heard ALL land border crossings are closed at the moment in and out of Myanmar and that they only way we can enter or exit is by flying. Does anyone know is that true? We would really like to cross over land through the border crossing at Mae Sai in the north of Thailand.

Thank you!

That sounds about right.

As far as I know, Burma's borders haven't been open for onwards travel throughout the country for eons. You can do border hops over at Mai Sai and other crossings, but if you're planning on travelling extensively in Burma, you need to fly in.
