Is it possible?

Sorry, I probably first posted this in the wrong area.

I'm a Canadian currently living in Japan, and my passport expires in 12/08. My husband & I are traveling to Siem Reap for just a few days in July.

Will I be denied entry for having less than 6 months validity, or is it just a matter of paying a little more $. I'd rather not have to apply for a new passport in Japan.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. As far as I know the criteria is for six months validity -- is there a Cambodian embassy in Japan? Perhaps try applying for a visa in advance and see what they say.

No, you are not allowed to apply for both the e-Visa and VOA (visa on arrival).

They explicitly say it on their website:

Requirement A passport validity of more than six months balance at time of entry, a recent passport-size photo in digital format (JPEG or PNG format), a valid credit card (Visa/MasterCard/American Express/Discover).

Because you will be denied boarding when you are checking in (It happened to one of my relatives) for your flight. Your two realistic options are A. Dont go on the trip or B. Renew passport in Japan.

Usually, the 6 month rule is quite strict, but of course it depends on country, so by all mean you can call the embassy for more info.

natwest, yes I saw that on the website as well. The reason I decided to ask is that I had read elsewhere (although I can't remember where) of people who'd had less than six months validity and were simply asked to pay an extra fee.

Anywho, I went ahead and contacted the Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and I was, in fact, told that as long as I had 3 months validity, I would be granted a visa. I'm not really sure about why the discrepancy, but we're going to go ahead and apply for our e-visas and see how it goes.

My only problem with renewing my Canadian passport in Japan is that I don't have a guarantor here who has known me for two years.
