We need to travel from Hanoi to Louang Prabang.

So far we have only found flying as the main option... however the flight we need isnt available on the date we require.

Is there any other options to get from Hanoi to Louang Prabang? Possibly by train or bus?

Anyone who can help, its greatly appreciated...

There's no trains, so if you're going to go overland you need to go by bus. See the Lao/Vn section of the Visa and border crossing FAQ for details on the various border crossings as you have a few options.

In general the overland trip takes the best part of two days.

Have you checked for flights to Ventiane? You could then go from Ventiane to LP. Will cost a bit extra and some extra hassle, but probably still less time and hassle than overlanding it.
