Hi,
We plan to fly to Saigon from Bangkok. As we stay in Bangkok just for 4 hours we have to get visa for Vietnam in advance. There are some offers in the internet that you can get visa on arrival for vietnam. They charge you about 12 Euro and you get a visa approval letter. They say you have to show it at the airport and will get a visa for US$ 25,-. This seems much cheaper than if you try to get the visa at the embassy in Austria (€ 72,-) - but does it work??? Who has experience with this visa on arrival?
Maybe you know a good adress to get this visa. It is not possible to get this approval letter from the embassy in Austria - they told me that nothing like this exists!
Thanks for your answer!

Hi,I am not sure why the Embassy could tell you such an extremely wrong and irresponsible statement. It seems visa on arrival is competing with them strongly and that is why they told you that it does not exist. they s*ck.
Well, back to your question. I can say that visa on arrival exists, it work well for anyone who is going to Vietnam. visa on arrival is issued by Vietnam immigration Dept.
Good lucks.

Yes, this service does exist, though I've not used it myself. perhaps others who have will be able to chip in.

Has someone ever tried the services of http://www.tnktravelvietnam.com/html/vietnam_visa.htm?
Do you think that this one is a reliable service?
Otherwise I should send my passport to the Vietnamese embassy to Rome and doing this would take different days and to do it just before the trip puts me some in anxiety for my passport, I would not want it ended lost.
thanks

I do not that the travel agency you mentioned above good or not but for the invitation letter you can make it via the travel agency is cost US$ 8. when you arrive in the airport you must pay for US$ 25 for the customs stamp on your passport. Hope this inform will clear for you.

Yes it is. The Vietnamese government has started this service as an alternative for arranging your visa at the embassy. Also the IATA (International Air Traffic Association) has recognised visa on arrival. Check out the visa information sections on the following airline websites: Sky team, Oneworld, Star Alliance or KLM.
