I am travelling through Thailand and plan to enter Laos through the north of Thailand. I then plan to re-enter Thailand from Vientaine area, travelling through the east side of Thailand and then entering Cambodia.
Some advice on how to go through the visa process would be greatly appreciated.

Well a lot depends on your nationality and how long you are planning on spending in each country. If you can fill out those blanks, I'll be able to give you some advice.
cheers

I am Australian.
The plan is to stay in Thailand about 4 weeks, then Laos a week. I plan to be back in Thailand no more than a few days before entering Cambodia.
Ideally I would like to travel through Laos and in to Cambodia, but am worried about roads etc as I will be travelling in July.
Would you recommend travelling from Laos and in to Cambodia at that time of year?
Thanks for such a quick reply also.

No problem - lots of visa questions today!
If you're in Thailand under a month and flying in, on an Oz passport you'll be given a 30-day visa free entry on arrival. So no need for a visa. If you're planning on being there longer than a month, get a visa. There's a couple of mammoth threads on the visa section of the messageboard about this, so take a look at those as well.
For Laos, get a visa on arrival -- available at most land crossings and airports. Good for 30 days.
For Cambodia. visa on arrival at land crossings. Good for 30 days.
The overland trip from Laos to Cambodia s a good one -- it's detailed here. I wouldn't worry about road conditions, but it does take a bit of time to do sensibly, so weigh that up -- especially if you're only planning one week in Laos.
Cheers

Given the time I have for my trip - I might have to look at flying from Vientiane to Vietnam.
There's just never enough time!!
