I plan on arriving in Bali in Nov. 2006 then travelling though Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines over 3 - 4 months. Must I purchase an onward air ticket before arrival in each country or is enough to have a copy of my return ticket to North America for April 2007?

Welcome to Travelfish!

A copy of your tcket back to the US should be more than sufficient -- while I can't speak for the Philippines, with Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam I've never been asked for any kind of onward ticket to anywhere.

The only time I was asked for an onward ticket was checking in for my flight to Singapore in Darwin, Australia where my flight from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap was sufficient. I've since crossed into Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos with no questions. I have no further flights booked anywhere at present.

I suspect that if you do get asked anywhere your return flight to the US will be more than adequate.

the only time we ever had difficulty with this issue was on the outbound flight from the states, where a United Airlines employee at BWI tried to prevent my wife from boarding the aircraft because her flight itin showed her staying in Thailand for more than 30 days. we eventually got it sorted out, but be prepared to respond to an overzealous airline employee. once we arrived in Bangkok, the Thai immigration official could have cared less, and happily stamped us in for 30 days. there are enough of us showing up with return flights much longer than 30 days in the future, but they know that we pop over to Laos, Cambodia, etc., before returing to Bangers for the flight back home. regards.

I have never had to show any onward tickets anywhere in SE asia. Luckily, coz i didnt have one!
