Hi,

I'm going on a trip around indo-china for 7 weeks spanning sept oct and nov. I'm planning on visiting Thailand Cambodia Vietnam and Burma, but only for 1 or 2 weeks each.

I'm very confused as to exactly when i need to get a visa and when i don't?

It helps if you state your nationality, or the country of the passport that you will be travelling with.

Most country's residents can get a one month visa on arrival (land or air) for Cambodia for $20 (US). For Vietnam and Myanmar (Burma) you will need to get a visa before hand...if your trip is only 11 weeks then I would suggest getting the first of these two that you plan to visit at home with your approximate dates on it..you don't want to end up waiting around in a city you don't particularly like just to get a visa. I'm not too sure about Thailand for all; British passport holders can get a 30 day visa on arrival (by land or air) but I'll leave it to others to confirm.

the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs website lists the 40 countries whose nationals can get a no-cost 30 day visa on arrival. there are even a few countries whose nationals can get a 90 day visa. check it out at:

Sorry, i'm British and have a British Passport. From the link exacto provided it looks like i should be fine on a tourist visa because i will never be in the country for longer then 3 weeks at a time.
