Best place to do DM

Posted by MadCat on 6/7/2015 at 09:18

Hi guys Can anybody suggest a good place to do your DM. I am already Advanced certified and want to do a DM. No real intention on working as a DM immediately, so the reasoning of "Do it where you want to work" does not apply. The most important factors for me is: - Great dive location: Variety, healthy coral, good water conditions - Good teaching - Beautiful surroundings Things like a pumping party scene is not that important for me. Thanx!! ...

Best Dive Locations in Vietnam - Nov/Dec

Posted by N45H on 26/4/2015 at 04:29

Hey everyone, I'm planning a 3 week trip through Vietnam in late November, early December and hoping to get a few dives in. We'll be hitting all the main places including Nha Trang which we've already flagged for a potential dive, but I've read mixed reviews. I'm aware Vietnam isn't renowned for amazing diving but I'm just looking for something relatively good. I'm interested in hearing from people who have dived in Nha Trang, Phu Cuoc and Con Dao. We're planning on checking Phu Cuoc out, but ...

Diving in Malaysia - Early March

Posted by TravelMoo on 18/2/2015 at 23:10

Hi, I'm looking to do some diving inMalaysia during the first week of March. I'm fairly inexperienced - just qualified for my Open Water a few weeks ago. It seems like Tioman is the most recommended spot but I think I will be there on the shoulder of monsoon season. I'm a bit nervous about high currents etc and was wondering if anyone has dived there at that time of year and can tell me if it was okay? Alternatively if you have any other suggestions that would be great! Thanks! ...

one-day dive without certification in Koh Tao

Posted by FaceTheHorizon on 2/6/2013 at 13:10

Hello... I previously did a one-day scuba dive with an instructor off of Cairns at the Great Barrier Reef. This trip, I'm traveling with a friend who is PADI certified, but I don't have the time to complete the whole course, either here at home or in Thailand. So I'm looking for recommendations of good dive operators located in Koh Tao who offer one-day outings that allow me to dive in the Gulf and not just a pool. (Yes, I've done some Google-ing already; I just wanted to see what users here h ...

Finding scuba gear in Bangkok?

Posted by Sampan on 29/9/2009 at 06:40

Hello forum, Finally Bangkok! I've been here for a week now and i absolutely love it! I'm leaving for Surat Thani/Krabi early next week and was thinking that it might be a good idea to find things like goggles and snorkel here first. Does anyone know where to look for stuff like that? Or, would it even be easier to find once in ST/Krabi perhaps? Any help is highly appreciated. // ...

PADI Open Water Thailand December

Posted by smokyjoe on 24/8/2012 at 01:40

Hi, I'm planning to do a PADI Open Water course on a Thai island early this December. I know Koh Tao is the most popular place to do it, but I understand that it may not be the best weather wise at this time of year. I've been looking at doing it on Koh Lipe instead. Koh Tao is cheaper, but I'm not too concerned about the price difference. Would you advise doing it on Koh Tao or Koh Lipe (or another island) in early December? I will only have about 8 or 9 days on Thai islands, so the scenery/a ...

Best place to dive in Thai/Laos/Viet/Cambodia

Posted by HexagonalBolts on 26/6/2011 at 21:35

Hello all, I was planning to go diving in Ko Tao but I recently read a post where someone described it as 'not fantastic' which made me very sad (I would kill to see a whale shark!). I know this is a subjective question, but where do you believe the most exceptional place to dive in these four countries is? I have done my open water and about five or six fairly normal/plain dives in Europe (bar one where I got to see lots of big grouper). ...

Do I need to be certified to dive in Thailand?

Posted by jenc12 on 7/2/2012 at 11:11

Hi everyone, I am going to be in Thailand in April (landing in Phuket, planning to spend some time around that area) and am wondering if I need to have any certification to dive there? I won't have time to do a full course in Thailand. Is there a crash course kind of thing that would show me the ropes/allow me to do it (I've gone diving before just never gotten around to taking the course) or is it better to do the online course/pool sessions at home with PADI beforehand and do the open water p ...

SE Asia Diving Recommendations

Posted by csawala on 22/6/2011 at 15:12

I will be in SE Asia between August and ... maybe January/February? and I am already open water licensed with PADI, and advanced open water with NAUI. I am just wondering what are must dive sites. I am starting my trip in July in China, heading south to Vietnam and definitely going to Phu Quoc, then on to Sihanoukville in Cambodia. After that I just want to get to as many other sites I can get to before I run out of money (while still seeing the touristy and scenic places along the way). I ...
