Posted by jocschneider on 3/7/2013 at 02:13

Hi everyone! I have flights booked to Cambodia for October this year and am beginning my trip with 2 weeks of volunteer teaching work. Because I will be placed in the same city/town for two whole weeks, I plan on traveling around the country for an additional week/two weeks afterwards. This is my first ever overseas travel experience, and am planning on doing it alone. I am a 22 year old female. I was wondering if anyone has advice for a lone female traveler like myself? My parents are begging m ...

HS grad going to Cambodia for 5 months

Posted by joody96 on 26/6/2013 at 12:56

I graduated high school in June and plan on taking a gap year before going to college. I visited Cambodia for two weeks and worked at an orphanage. I travelled with an absurdly expensive program filled with privileged kids who were just looking for community service hours and something flashy for their resume. While over their I fell in love with the culture and vowed to go back. I have made a connection with an orphanage in Phnom Penh and they have offered me a place to work for five months. ...

Islands around New Years

Posted by ktkates87 on 21/6/2013 at 21:08

I'm planning a backpacking trip through SE Asia. I am hoping to visit Koh Rong and possibly Samloem, and based on a rough itinerary I think we might end up there around New Years Eve. Will that affect our ability to find accommodations? I'd rather not book too far in advance because I'm hoping to not have to stick too strictly to an itinerary and the dates may likely change. Thoughts? ...

Business Visa Extension - New Page in Passport?

Posted by ChloeC on 16/6/2013 at 08:59

Hi all Can't find this information anywhere else so here I am! I'm coming to Cambodia shortly to do an internship for three months. My workplace told me to get a business visa on arrival and that they will extend it for me. I have two questions in relation to this: 1) Can I get a business visa for longer than one months duration on arrival or do I simply have to extend it once I'm there? 2) Does the business visa extension take up another page in your passport or do they simply stamp/sign yo ...

GiantIbis bus. Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville

Posted by sayadian on 11/6/2013 at 23:43

I thought I'd try this relatively new service and give it a quick review. Tickets are $10 which is around 30% more than other companies charge so I was expecting something better. You can wait for your bus in a small seating area inside the companies office which are at the end of street 106 next to the site of the night market and Riverside. The waiting area is clean and air-conditioned. Transport was a large mini-bus with masses of leg room making it easy to stretch out and relax or sleep. No ...

Thai visa waiver+travel to Cambodia

Posted by stusie94 on 6/6/2013 at 09:02

Hey guys, me and my girlfriend are planning on going to SE Asia in june/july for 38 days in total. The plan is to be in Thailand for 18 days, then travel to Cambodia for around 6 days, then be in Thailand again for the next 14 days. The problem is, as I understand it, to qualify for the visa waiver I need proof that I will be leaving Thailand within 30 days. However, we want to go to Siem Reap by bus from Bangkok (apparently there's now a direct bus route) but I can't find anywhere to book ...

Does this Cambodia tour sound legit, or is it a scam?

Posted by byroncarr on 12/5/2013 at 19:34

My girlfriend and I have booked a 15-day 'adventure' trip to Cambodia in November, complete with full day kayaking, biking, jungle walks, and even a night of camping, travelling around Cambodia. We found the tour online (http://adventure-cambodia.com), and the tour company only has one review on TripAdvisor. We've already paid the 10% deposit, and the tour company wants us to pay the remainder in cash when we get there. Does this kind of your sound legit? Is it normal to pay in cash, and shoul ...
