Tour or car from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

Posted by suzienichols on 1/10/2012 at 10:06

Does anyone know of a reputable tour company that will do a one day tour of sites on route between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap? Alternatively a good car hire company that will allow us to arrange our own? Mekong Eyes do the sort of thing we're after but are asking $108 EACH for the 5 of us making it really expensive! They visit Spiderville and a couple of geological sites on route. Cheers, Suzie. ...

Does anyone have any suggestions for us? Here's what are tentative itinerary is: - Fly into BKK and overland to Siem Reap to visit Angkor Wat and then head to Tonle Sap Lake to visit the floating villages. - Head to PP and up to Kompong Cham for a homestay on the Mekong River - Head back to PP a ...

Of course, Sihanoukville and pub st. have been mentioned but is there any where else? I am looking for somewhere that I can spend a few days- where it isnt berzerk on days other than new years. Am I asking too much? Any suggestions would be appreciated **Edit: I should mention that its the Dec 31st and not the April one. ...

31y female from Aust looking for travel buddies

Posted by roshiakhil on 25/11/2012 at 06:37

Hello all! I'm heading to Seim Reap on 2 December and have until 30 December to see all that Cambodia has to offer. Also considering going to Laos. I'm a fairly laid back person, interested in seeing sights and relaxing along the way. I usually find that at home I am usually doing something every hour of the day....sometimes too much. So this trip will be about, trying to slow down...Taking my time exploring. Having looked at the endless advice online I am thinking it may take a few weeks to ...

Where to go for Xmas and New Year in Cambodia

Posted by Doyledan on 1/12/2012 at 20:09

Hello My pArtner and I are travelling into Cambodia from Vietnam via the Mekong Delta crossing. We want to take in the sights of Cambodia but are not sure where to be for Xmas and New Year. Initially we thought that we would like to be by a beach for new year so obvious places for that are Sihanoukville or neighbouring islands. Has anyone done this before? and if so would you recommend it? If not any suggestions are welcome. Thanks ...

SR-->PP-->HCMC, when to fly?

Posted by mjbrennan on 24/11/2012 at 09:19

Hi all- Making the trip from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City in early January 2013. Current itinerary calls for three nights in SR, two nights in Phnom Penh, one night in Chau Doc (after taking a boat down the Mekong) and one night in HCMC before we leave for Con Dao. My question: Clearly this is a lot of bus/boat traveling. If you had to pick, would you fly the SR-->PP route or the PP--->HCMC route? This trip will be the week after the new year. Thanks! ...

Travel Ideas and Advice

Hi, Just planning a trip through SEA and originally I was thinking I would skip over Cambodia but from what I have read here it is worth seeing and I plan on going Vietnam to Thailand so might as well add 10-14 days or so and do it by land. Only real plans were to check out Phnom Penh, see the killing fields etc, then up to Angkor Wat and check out the temples for a few days before heading into Thailand. Anything else along the way I should see? How long would you recommend to make this tr ...

Kulen Mountain at siem reap

Posted by veasna on 22/11/2012 at 20:57

Rather than a hill range, Phnom Kulen is an isolated chain of small mountain plateaux of moderate height lying south of the Dang Rak Mountains. The range stretches for about 40 km in a WNW - ESE direction and is located some 48 km north of Siem Reap. Its highest point is 487 m and its height is quite regular, averaging 400 m all along the range.Geologically Phnom Kulen is formed of sandstone. It was important as a quarry in Angkorian times, the major quarries being located in the southeastern ang ...

Are there ANY trusted bus companies from Koh Kong to Sihanoukville?

Posted by wontstayin on 12/10/2012 at 03:46

Am heading over to Sihanoukville shortly and wanted to get advice on which bus companies to avoid as there's some horror stories out there. Based on reports from this site, it seems the ones to avoid are: Rith Mony Paramount Angkor Express (sister co.to Rith Mony) Virak-Buntham Express Ltd Can anyone actually recommend which bus to use that won't leave me stranded, take far too long, break down or make me sit on the floor? Many thanks ...

Kep - Sea festival

Posted by eastwest on 3/10/2012 at 08:52

In reaction to the blog writing about the sea festival to be held in Kep . It doesn't mention when it will take place. There's just a reference to new year's 2012-13 for planning and that implies that the festival will be held around that time. There is indeed a need to plan for this period, due to chistmas holiday and Kep water festival, but it is NOT when the sea festival will be held. The Sea festival in Kep will most likely be held on 12/12/12 which has been confirmed by local authorities ...
