Siem Reap- 4000 islands- South Thailand without much hassle- is it possible?

Posted by HanoiMargarita on 2/9/2012 at 07:10

Please, help, I cannot decide myself. I have been in Siem Reap for a few days and feel like I really have to move on, but cannot decide in which direction. I have a heavy luggage after traveling in Asia for 5 months, which is a pain and a main reason I am not very mobile when it comes to changing transport. With my 3 bags it is impossible to walk in streets either. I was thinking of going to 4000 islands, then to South Thailand to see the best there, and then return to Chiang Mai where I started ...

I've already mentioned this in the thread entitled 'Goodbye' but on reflection felt it needed to be placed in a thread of its own.I don't know the quality of other blogs but seeing as Somtam was making a defence for the site being more up-to-date because of the blogs I felt I had to pick up on this one. Such errors can have serious consequences on peoples livelihoods. I'd like to take issue with one of your bloggers. The piece on lakeside, Phnom Penh by Abigail. She states: '.....but the tour ...

Beng Melea

Posted by Baston on 20/8/2012 at 16:26

I will be in Angkor late september, 27th through october 4th. I plan on hiring a car ($60-70) along with a guide ($25.00) to go on a full day trip to Beng Melea (along with a few other stops.) I wanted to see if anyone was interested in sharing the costs. I figure taking a tuk-tuk that far may be pushing it a little, not to mention AC will probably be nice. Please let me know. ...

Borkor National Park Status Update??

Posted by Mattyrud on 26/8/2012 at 06:16

Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows the current state of Borkor? I can't find any recent reviews.. Most say the building of the casino/resort/shopping center has ruined it. And the old palace or casino is being turned into museum ? Also the waterfalls overflowing with rubbish. I read that it was all ment to completed by august 2012. Would really love to hire a scooter from kep/kampot and ride up there to take some photos? Hope it's still a sight to see.. Matt ...

boat from SR to Battambang in september

Posted by amcyr on 26/8/2012 at 05:54

Hi there, I've read arround seriously divergent opinions on the boat trip from Siem Reap to Battambang. Some say i'ts very scenic and well worth it, while other people say it takes forever and the boat gets overloaded and breackdowns are usual. Traveling in september, I guess at least the boat would not run aground as in dry season. we would apreciate updated opinions... what do you think? Thanks, ...

Advice for a solo female traveler?

Posted by XeniaC on 2/8/2012 at 23:43

Hi guys, I will be travelling to Siem Reap in a week or so, flying solo though. So I was wondering is it actually safe to do that? Are there perhaps any tours you can recommend where I can meet fellow travelers and stay within in a group? Cause till now, what I understood, most of the people are renting a guide and a tuk tuk, but don't really want to do that on my own. Thanks Cheers! X. ...

Visit an Orphanage

Posted by bhaulley on 15/5/2008 at 18:00

I work here in PP for an NGO, and I'd like to suggest to travelers that they visit an orphanage while in Cambodia. I suggest one that I'm familiar with, Cambodian Dump Children Center. That's right, they're dump children, orphans picked up at the city dump, living off trash pickings in one of the poorest countries in the world. You'll love the kids, and it'll change your view of life and position. You can find them on Street 103, about half a mile south of Mao Tse-Tung Blvd. Email me in advance ...

Store bags at the airport to make a quick trip to the killing fields. 4. Get back to the airport by 4PM to catch the airasia flight t ...

Phu Quoc to Angkor Wat

Hi ! My husband and I will be in Phu Quoc from 12/28-1/3. Then we would like to go to Angkor Wat afterwards for 3-4 days. We have till Jan 10th before we have to fly out. My question is: - should we head into Siem Reap from the South ? ie travel to Sihanoukville first then up North ? but would that be too similar to Phu Quoc ? - should we just fly from Phu Quoc to HCMC, to Siem Reap ? - if yes, then what should we do after Siem Reap ? travel to surrounding towns ? on our way to PP ? - is i ...
