Cambodia in 11 days - what to do in between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap?

Posted by koppeu on 27/1/2011 at 02:21

Hey guys, so here's the deal: I'll be travelling to Cambodia in March and I'm having 11 days to spend. I'm arriving in Phnom Penh and will be staying there for two nights. Then will eventually end up in Siem Reap and stay there for three nights. In between those two places, I have a week to spend around Cambodia and was hoping to get some input from you guys. Since I wanna avoid excessive travelling from one place to another, I thought about visiting only one extra region during that time. ...

Travel companion - Siem Riep in March

Posted by EyeofJ on 5/2/2011 at 03:59

Hi - I am going to be in Siem Riep from March 1-15 and and will be travelling solo. Anyone out there looking for a travel companion to see the sites. Many of the tours/private cars are cheaper if there are 2-3 people. Oh - if that matters (and it does not to me), I am in my late 50's but quite fit and very interested in seeing all the sites. I am an avid photographer and like to take enough time to enjoy the sites. You can send me a private message if you are interested in connecting on any to ...

Are electronics cheaper in Cambodia?

Posted by frederikdb on 25/1/2011 at 19:25

Hey, I heard from another tourist that shopping for electronics, such as iPods and iPhones, is cheaper in Cambodia than in the US. I think she mentioned that in Cambodia, there were no taxes on electronic products. Can anyone confirm if this is true or false? Are there places in Phnom Penh where I should look for cheap electronics? Do I have to watch out for fakes or cheap chinese rip-offs? F ...

My plan is to take the bus from HCM city to Phnom Penh then I would like to rent a motorbike to explore the south down to Kampot and Sihanoukville. Has anyone did this before? If so where did you rent? How much per day? I heard you have to leave your passport as security deposit, I don't like the sound of that. Thank you for your help! ...

Khmer food

Posted by mattocmd on 13/11/2010 at 12:12

My favorite part about travelling is the food - the cheap awesome local food. In HCMC I can get pho for $1 or go to the central market and get the best seafood like a plate of grilled scallops for under $2...all cheap and amazing. In Bangkok I can get delicious street food or go to a local restaurant and eat like a king for nothing. I'm having a hard time in Phnom Penh. Can anyone help me out? I don't want to eat at the expensive western restaurants. I'm having a hard time finding deliciou ...

Phnom Penh travel tribe this Thursday night

Posted by somtam2000 on 1/2/2011 at 06:54

Just a quick heads up that this Thuesday night they'll be a "Traveltribe" get together in Phnom Penh. See the blog entry here for the full wrap, but it's basically just a social event where you can get together with a few other travelling bods (the ones you haven't met yet) and also meet some of the people behind some of the travel websites you may be familiar with. I've been to the Sydney one, and it was great, so if you're in the area, do check it out! ...

Hi Friends, I am new to travelfish.org and I love it! What a great website. I was wondering if anyone could make any recommendations for me as far as places to go and things to do in Cambodia. I will be visiting the country as part of a larger trip in February and will have around 2-3 weeks to spend in Cambodia. I am a 22 year old male, and I will be traveling alone. I do not speak Khmer. I am trying to do something a little different than the normal backpacker routine. I do not want to ...

Cambodia-Loas Transportation

Posted by TylaW on 28/1/2011 at 22:43

So I am heading to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in March! I am doing a whirlwind trip in 16 days. Probably won't hit up that many places but I want a taste of each. I plan on either taking a bus or boat from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh then heading up to Laos for a week or so. I am on a tight budget so I was hoping someone could give me tips for cheap transportation from Cambodia to Laos? Airline companies? I've done most of Thailand so I was hoping to bypass it. I've been going through the forum ...

First timer, and with my dad too!

Hi all, I've just been reading through a whole load of posts about a massive amount and gotta say this is an excellent site! I was hoping I could ask some of you experienced travellers for some advice? My father has recently decided he's missed out on a lot in life by not being very adventurous, something I was more than happy to help out with. As such we are planning three weeks (not long enough I know) to SE asia. My dad has always been very keen to see Angkor Wat and I'd love to explor ...

kampot to HCMC warning

Posted by jdexpat on 27/1/2011 at 15:10

We stayed in Le Java Blueu (Bleue?) hotel. $35 2 beds. Beautiful room. Its here we booked our bus ticket to HCMC. We were told 4 1/2 hours which seemed believable looking at the map. In the morning we were told 7 1/2 hours. Oh well, nevermind. Turned out that our hotel had booked with the guy across the road know as 'Ron'. He came to talk to us at breakfast. He does not have typical Khmer facial features and as at writing has a dry cough and comes across a little slimy. He told us our tickets wo ...

Chong Mek to Siem Reap Adventure

Posted by lad on 25/1/2011 at 20:38

I have just returned from an unforgettable trip using the resources of Mongkheang from Angkor Grand Adventure Tours. My travel partner were met at Chong Mek on the Lao/Thai border and transferred via private Songthiew to the remote Chong Sa Ngam border crossing in the North of Cambodia. After an overnight stay in a very comfortable guest house in Anlong Veng we started our cycling south from the grave site of the infamous Pol Pot. The best way to appreciate the Khmer people and their way of ...

Sihanoukville bus station

Posted by dannyengland on 11/9/2006 at 08:23

The experience of being hasseled by moto drivers has just got worse now you are attacked by Farangs prompoting thier guest houses. Mick and Craigs, Cool Banana The Curry House and Monkey Republic. The lady from Monkey Republic was so pushy and agressive that it was scarry. It is my believe that all flyes should be distributed at the bus station by Cambodian Nationals or banned altogether. We noticed a few Cambodians handing out flyers who were polite and seemed intimidated by the Farangs. The ge ...
