Rental Motorbike stolen in Sihanoukville

Posted by philuxbown on 16/12/2010 at 08:18

Hello, I've got my rental motorbike stolen on Independence beach in Siahnoukville. The thieves cut the lock with pinces. It was properly parked and I left it 20 minutes max without surveillance. It was 13:00 local time. To make matter worse, the hotel has my passport as a warranty and the owner asks me to pay him 850 dollars to buy another one. I went to see the police but there is little hope to get it back. It is probably a scam between the owner, the police and the thieves but I cannot prove ...

Hey all, I’m going to Phnom Penh in January for at least 6 months. I need a new phone and have been looking at picking up a HTC. My question is this; Is it worth waiting until I get there to buy one, price wise I mean, or should I just get one here at home (Europe) before going? Thanks for your help! ...

Specific advice needed

Posted by shadowcat7 on 11/12/2010 at 05:45

Hi, 3 of us are travelling to Cambodia in early Feb-via Hong Kong. We have booked hotels in Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc...and intend to take a bus from Phnom Penh to HCMC-but we are completely confused as to our visa requirements! Initially, we were told that getting suitable visa's for Vietnam was easy in PP: around $30-$50 same day turn around...but we have only 1 working day in PP (Monday 7th Feb) and worried that if we cannot get the visa' on the day - we have lost our hotel and flig ...

Posted by happyhipp0 on 30/11/2010 at 16:47

We are planning a 9 day trip to vietnam and cambodia, and would LOVE to help in the planning? 1. What direction shall we travel in (flying in from KL)? Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh city / Saigon - Phnom Penh - Siem Reap or reverse? (i.e. NORTH to SOUTH or SOUTH to NORTH) or would people recommend an alternative route? 2. How do we get between the different places? plane, train or bus? 3. I know its not long enough for a thorough visit - but is 2 days in each place reasonable? Planning to leave around ...

Killed a Chicken. What happens next?

Posted by Rasheeed on 15/11/2010 at 16:20

So I'm in Cambodia, and I'm driving my motorcycle (3 days ago). Chicken runs into the road. I can't avoid it. I slam it, it shakes for a few second then dies. This is seen by a couple on a motorcycle and some small children in front of a house a few meters down the street. It happens that the chicken belonged to the grandmother of the house. What should I do? I know what I did, but Khmers and others have disagreed as to if I acted appropriately. What would you do? 'sheeed ...

I am just trying to get an idea of the travel times. Thanks in advance! ...

At Poipet and Bavet the E visa can be used for entry At Kaam Samnor/Chau Doc, the E visa cannot be used for entry but according to www.mfaic.gov.kh ,the E visa is good for Exit at all border crossings .. Sihanoukville guide

Posted by dandav on 18/11/2010 at 06:47

A great tour guide with his own bike to take you around or can arrange a car. Cost is between $15 and $25 depending on hours and distance travelled. Rith (24) is full of knowledge and advice of this area, as he grew up here. A nice story of his life if you get to know him. Speaks very good english and keeps you informed with SMS or emails. He looked after me for 4 days while in Sihanoukville going to waterfalls, Ream NP deserted beach, city tour, beach tour and lots of other interesting places ...

Cab from Siem Reap airport into town

Posted by StreetSpirit13 on 13/11/2010 at 18:59

This is a cautionary tale and request for advice: please tell me what I should have done to avoid this awkward situation... I flew into Siem Reap today and got a taxi into town. I had gotten my ticket for the taxi at the counter in front of the airport ($7), and told the driver where I was going. He said he knew where it was and how to get there. On the way, he started telling me about all these "family owned guesthouses" I could stay at, and how cheap they were. I kindly told him n ...
