I have some original paintings of Angkor Wat by a local Pattaya Artist/Teacher who died 3 years ago Geoffrey Franklin, they are beautifully done and wonder if there is a Market for them. I am in Pattaya at the moment. ...

Battambang - Siem Riep - Short Visit.

Posted by anotherlostsoul on 16/2/2010 at 17:21

I visited Cambodia back in 1996 and think it's about time to pop back and see how things have changed. I have a week available at the end of February and plan to visit Battambang (I couldn't get here in '96), and Siem Riep. Any help with the following would be appreciated! *Recommendations for budget guesthouses. Would it be possible to get a room (fan and bathroom) with free and reliable wi-fi ... for $10? Or am I wishing? Wi-fi is essential as i'll be working throughout the trip. *Mus ...

Siem Reap to Phu Quoc via PP

Posted by bretandgerri on 10/1/2010 at 11:42

Hi there, I'm just trying to work out the quickest way of getting to Phu Quoc from Siem Reap via Phnom Penh ? I know you can fly from HCMC (we are booked to fly back from Phu Quoc to HCMC) but don't want to miss out on Phnom Penh on the way! At the moment it's looking like boat from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh to Chau Doc by speedboat, Chau Doc to Can Tho by bus, Can Tho to Rach Gia by bus, and fly to Phu Quoc from Rach Gia. This is taking about a week and we're running short on ...

Khmer New Year - Phnom Penh

Posted by RachelW on 11/3/2010 at 03:53

So I am going to be spending Khmer New Year (April 13-15) in PP. Probably travelling from Battambang at the start. Anybody got any ideas about how to celebrate it with the locals? I will probably be doing the usual sights (royal palace and wildlife tour etc) but would like to go wherever the celebrations are good aswell. Also is it wrong to come prepared with talcum powder to take revenge on any locals that might soak me or douse me in it? ...

Hi, I was thinking about methods of getting from Siem Reap - Kompong Cham or Phnom Penh. Would taking a boat from the NW to the SE of Lake Tonle Sap be an option? If so, how much could I expect to pay, and how much would time would it add to the journey? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks, Tom ...

Away from the tourist ghetto in Siem Reap

Posted by choobydoo on 23/12/2006 at 16:13

Hello all travellers, Here is a little hint for those who have legs and a brain... Tired of the ghetto of Pub Street (a smaller Kao San Road in Siem Reap, with security agents preventing the Khmer from coming in...), I crossed the river and looked for places where you're not seating right in the middle of the street, and found a different Siem Reap.... The streets are much calmer, you're not hassled by massage girls or tuk-tuks and there is some green... Already much better... Then, in ...

Cambodia visa in Sai Gon / HCMC

Posted by Archmichael on 18/3/2010 at 10:30

Has anyone had recent experience obtaining a visa at the Cambodian consulate in Sai Gon / HCMC? Quick turn-around or come back next day? I realize visas are available on arrival to Cambodia, but we are entering at a small crossing (O'Yadao, b'twn Plei Ku and Ban Lung), and would like to have the visa in hand when we get there. (Though I know this is an option, we don't much fancy mailing our passports off to the Cambodian Embassy where we live.) Thanks! ...

bangkok to siem reap, march 28, join me

Posted by andrewryan on 22/3/2010 at 03:21

I have done the trip before so I know a good way. I will be taking the 430 am gambling bus to poipet border on March 28 -- it leaves from 430 am from rama 4 ,in front of lumpini park, about half way between silom and sathorn (just ask for poipet). Chances are I (Andrew) will be the only other farang there so easy to find. Advantages Earliest so little or no border delay. Only 200 baht. Goes directly to border , so no tuk tuk needed, no fake border, no forced currency transaction, no vi ...

Ko Rong

Posted by RachelW on 26/3/2010 at 16:29

Has anyone been here recently? Everything I seem to find is from a few years ago saying that you have to camp to stay there and I am slightly worried by the website saying it is being 'developed'. I would like to spent a night or two here in April but if I can't find anything solid may have to opt for Bamboo Island... ...

Cambodia in April

Posted by shaydan_01 on 14/3/2010 at 18:11

Hi everyone, My partner and I are landing in Cambodia April 20th and spending about a month - month 1/2 exploring the country. As I understand it is the hottest time of the year and I am wondering if we are better off heading away from Siem Reap (where we land) to some cooler areas before coming back mid-late June to do Angkor Wat. Will the climate change much during this period? If anyone has some suggestions of better places to be at this time of year in Cambodia then please let me ...

Postage Stamp Scam

Posted by borisborough on 1/2/2010 at 02:43

I'm not sure anyone else has experienced this but it seems like the postal workers at the post office in Shanook Bvd in Phnom Penh are working a scam on tourists. I wanted to post three written postcards (yes, old-fashioned but it's what the oldies want) from Cambodia to the UK and New Zealand. The board behind the counter clearly states that postcard stamps to Europe and Oceania are 2800r and that America is 3000r. When I requested three postcard stamps for Europe I was asked for 9000r ...
