Travelling South East Asia in September

Posted by Eldwyer90 on 23/5/2013 at 20:05

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone had any advice about travelling SE Asia around the monsoon season. I want to try and draw up an itinerary to avoid it as much as possible. I'm currently teaching in South Korea and my contract is up mid September. I've done some research and found that Malaysia looks ok to travel in September. I was thinking of starting there however I can't work out what country to move on to next in October. I want to visit Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Has anyone visited ...

Meeting fellow travellers during off-season?

Posted by mrock on 16/4/2013 at 01:15

Ok, so I'm planning a two month June-July trip to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. I know that this is firmly in the rainy season for most of the region, and that there will be less travellers. However, I'll be travelling alone. Assuming I spend my nights primarily in dormitory styled lodging, how likely is it that I'll be able to meet fellow travellers? I'd like to have companions to spend my time with and I enjoy the backpacker scene. I have recurring worries that I'll be the only back ...

A few questions for unexperienced international traveller

Posted by sunshinehappy on 28/5/2013 at 23:25

I'm heading Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand (with the majority of time in Vietnam) in November for 4 weeks, and was hoping some of you could help me with a few things. It is my first time traveling outside of New Zealand and Australia and am going to spend the first week by myself. I have traveled a lot around these places by myself, although I know Vietnam will be a shock. I'm only taking carry-on and I'm pretty sorted with what I'm taking and what I need while still being under carry on limits an ...

Thailand travels - Idea of finance needed!

Posted by IndiaGabrielle on 5/6/2013 at 06:21

Hi! I'm looking for some advice on the financial side of my travels - it would be great to get an idea of how much single travellers got together for their trips. I know this will probably vary massively, but a little bit of discussion would be fantastic to give me some ideas of the different kind of spending people do / what's cheap / what's not! Here's some info about my trip: I'm heading to Bangkok at the end of July to stay at a friend's house indefinitely. My plan is to spend some time t ...

Cambodia/Vietnam/Thailand in 3 weeks

Posted by jonice08 on 16/5/2013 at 04:57

My wife and I are planning a holiday in Cambodia, Vietnam and possibly Thailand in February 2014. This is the third time we are planning a trip to SEA and HOPEFULLY, this time around we will actually manage to travel there!!! We already have a relatively good idea of where to go in Cambodia (4 nights) and Vietnam (9 nights), however since flights to Cambodia or Vietnam are twice as expensive than flying to Thailand, we have now decided to fly in and out of Bangkok, which will also give us an ext ...

Hi all, I'm spending about a month in SE Asia in August and I'm starting to plan it. My boyfriend and his friend are thinking of joining me for two weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on an itinerary? We are thinking Thailand and Indonesia right now, although I'm interested in Laos and Vietnam as well. And what is the best way to travel, plane, bus, train etc? I've travelled Europe extensively, and am just wondering if Asia has something similar to RyanAir and Easy Jet. I know the places ar ...

Help! My 1 month SE Asia itinerary

Posted by nikochoi on 18/4/2013 at 16:14

My boyfriend and I just booked our tickets to SE asia for August 25-Sept 29... and now the planning begins! We are going to be flying into Hanoi and then flying out of Bangkok. Our goal is to do Vietnam/ Angkor Wat/ Thailand. From what I've read, most say don't plan too much as life is more leisurely in this part of the world. However, a part of me wants to see as much as possible, seeing as though I don't know when we will have the chance to go back. We've already decided that we don't ...
