Taking Prescription Drugs to Indonesia

Posted by quigly on 25/11/2015 at 18:28

Hi We are heading out to Bali & Lombok at Christmas time for three weeks. Both my kids are on ADHD medication (Ritalin/Concerta) and I read on the AU gov website that these controlled drugs are highly restricted in Indonesia. I was planning on getting a letter from the Pediatrician but now think may not be enough - any one know or have experience with this issue. Thanks ...

Safety - Kuta Lombok?

Posted by altmtl on 8/11/2015 at 11:24

I was considering renting a scooter for about a 2- 3 week staying in Lombok but I've read and heard a few things that are a little off putting... "be very cautious if you head to Kuta Lombok. They won't care on your travel experiences. Assaults, robberies, road hold ups happen in and around that area. All instigated from two feuding local villages, their youth take it further and realise the police are unable to cope with their actions. Bikes belonging to local and foreign tourists go missi ...

Extending a 30 day visa on arrival - my experience

Posted by mooball on 24/10/2014 at 04:20

Just wanted to provide the latest on what I have experienced with extending the 30 day visa on arrival (VOA) in the city of Bandung . I understand that the process is similar in Bali as well. First of all, you need to go to the immigration office and approach a counter and ask for someone to help extend your visa. In Bandung, there is no sign so you just have to wander around until you find someone to point you in the right direction. To save yourself time, I can tell you the counter you nee ...

Bali in November advice

Posted by nic867 on 9/2/2015 at 15:56

Hi everyone. For my 30th birthday in November I had planned a trip to Bali, starting in Ubud, moving up to Sidemen, Mt Batur, Lovina and Bedugul with activities such as cycling, mountain trekking and snorkling. However after much reading I'm getting more worried and off put by the weather conditions I might expect during this time including stifling hot weather, 80% humidity and downpours not to mention bad conditions for the planned activities! I really had my heart set on this trip but fe ...

Indo Snorkelling in January and February 2016

Posted by Malvis on 5/9/2015 at 08:04

I am not too familiar with Indonesia, but I have been trying to do a lot of reading and am starting to get very confused. I am an avid snorkeler and spend all my time in the water, and my other half loves lazing on the shore catching some sun with an occasional snorkel here and there. We are both in our thirties. Not into the party or touristy or crowded scene. We have been to Thailand 3 times, choosing less touristy islands (Ko Kradan, Ko Racha and Ko Hai) who all had very nice snorkeling opti ...

Mt Bromo

Hi all, The date is approaching that I am due to start my expedition to SE Asia. I am flying to Jakarta on the 4th Nov, and have booked my accommodation for the first night and will then fly to Surabaya on the 6th of Nov. From here I intend on visiting Mt Bromo and seeing the sunrise. I have enquired with a few companies but wish to get a vague understanding on how much it will likely cost. I have been quoted £160 - 3,250,000 RP which includes the following: Hotel - Bromo Permai/Nadya ...

Mostly adventure stuff, we'd definitely like to do: -white water rafting -diving -paragliding -volcano h ...

Bali or Luang Prabang?

Posted by valentinaforno on 15/9/2015 at 03:33

Hello guys, I will be in SEA for 2 and a half weeks at the end of December/beginning of January. My partner and I will spend 1 week in Koh Lipe to get out PADI certification, and I was looking into where to spend the week we have left. We've already been in Thailand (all the must sees), Cambodia (Siem Reap) and Vietnam (Hanoi to Saigon), so I was looking into Luang Prabang in Laos or Bali. To my surprise the flight prices for those destinations are the same from Bangkok, so I can't decide upon ...

3w itinerary advise

Dear Java and Indonesia experts Sorry for the long posting. I just want to be specific and clear. Don't let it deter you please. I (alone) will arrive in Jakarta on 23 October and leave again from there 12 Nov 0:05, thus 19+1/4 days. I decided I'll only visit Java. My main interest in desc. order are: -'struggling' (don't like organized tours so much) -cities (if there are nice) -historic/religious buildings etc. -culture, local people -eating local food + cooking class (possible?) -nature/lan ...

Flying in Indonesia

Posted by somtam2000 on 14/9/2015 at 22:10

I travel a lot in Indonesia and nothing scares me like flying. We've lost friends there to plane crashes and I do try to fly domestically as little as possible, especially with the family. This story very neatly illustrates why. The fixation with glitzy terminals over safety features and training is absolutely maddening. The Pontianak example given in the story is SO Indonesia. ...
