5 weeks eastern Indonesia

Posted by emrobe on 4/6/2012 at 07:27

I am planning a 5 week trip to Eastern Indonesia, I'll fly in and out of Bali and wish to visit Bali, Lombok, Komodo, Flores and if time and transport are on my side I would like to visit Sulawesi and fly back to Bali from Manado. However, as I have no real idea how long this trip will take I am not planning to buy my flight from Manado back to Bali ahead of time as I have no idea how far I will get. Can anyone tell me how much time I need to book ahead to secure an internal flight. Any advic ...

Bromo-[overland to Lombok (possibly stopping in Ijen) or flying from Surabaya] and then explore (or relax in) Lombok . . . ending at Kuta, Lombok. Not really interested in Bali this trip. Any thoughts welcome. ...

Hi, I'm hoping to get to see Indonesia this summer around August! Unfortunately I have possibly on 3-4 weeks due to work! I'm aiming to do it in a budget appro 500 pounds! I have experience in Asia and south America so have no issue with long journeys! Can anyone advise places to see in that time or if 500 is enough for internal travel, food and accommodation? Also is it best to fly into Jakarta or Bali? Any help would be great thank you ...

5 Weeks: Bali, Sulawesi and Maluku Islands

Posted by eik362 on 10/4/2012 at 00:42

Hi All, I've read a lot of your itinerary posts and they have all been so helpful! I am a 20 year old, inexperienced, solo female backpacker. I am fairly adventurous (however, as stated above, very inexperienced!). I love diving, trekking, and small rural villages with minimal tourists. I am not a big partier, however wouldn't mind having a drink with fellow travellers. I am planning a trip for 5 weeks that will start in Bali to explore the rural areas. I then want to go to Makassar in Sulawes ...

Accommodation - how much?

Posted by ben130892 on 17/5/2012 at 10:56

I will soon be leaving for Indonesia and will be travelling for 60 days across the months of June, July and August and am thus wandering how much, roughly, accommodation, or in fact general living, will cost in these months. I am happy slumming it in low budget hostels as long as I have the basics of a shower and a bed! Also more than happy eating local street food and often have a dine as they do attitude. I plan to travel from Jakarta to Gili Islands, potentially on to Flores dependent on tim ...

Solo Travel in Indonesia

Posted by ben130892 on 11/5/2012 at 12:30

In June, not booked flight as of yet, I will be setting off to Jakarta to start my trip through Indonesia. I will be doing this on my own as my mate, who I previously planned to travel with, has just had to drop out. I was therefore wandering if there are any like minded and easy going people that would like to join me on a trip that pretty much travels through the whole of Java, to Bali, then on to the Gili Islands and maybe Flores. The whole trip will take roughly 2 months. I am a 19 year old ...

I'm really interested in visiting some of the wildlife the country has to offer and as I'm on limited time have found an organised trip to visit the Komodo dragons on Komodo island and orangutans in Tanjung Puting National Park, Borneo. I'm wondering if any other travellers would like to join me on this and a) cut costs and b) share this fantastic experience? The trip is 7 days and 6 nights and a link can be fo ...

Hi all, My wife and I are fairly experienced travellers having backpacked through Africa from our home in South Africa. We now have some time in August and sept (12/08 to the end sept) and wanted to see SEA. Our current itinerary is: Arrive in Jakarta Fly to Ambon (Maluku) Fly to Banda islands (up to 2 weeks) Back to Ambon Get from Ambon ...

Climbing Gunung Agung

Posted by Newkid on 19/4/2012 at 23:45

Hello all, I would like to climb Gunung Agung in July this year, with the idea of camping overnight at the summit, weather permitting I would like to photograph sunset and sunrise. I understand that there are two routes - one that goes all the way to the summit (need to start from Besakih temple and takes around 7 hours - some sections are quite tough...) and the other that goes only till the crater rim (need to start at Pasar Agung and takes about 4 hours). I have a few questions and hope tha ...

Getting to Mt. Kelimutu

Hello, I'd love to see the lakes at Mt. Kelimutu on Flores. I'll be traveling from Bali to Flores to see the Komodo dragons and I'm wondering if it's best to fly directly to Maumere first, head to Mt. Kelimutu and then to Labuan Bajo from there. Is it easy to find a taxi/driver that will take me there and then to Labuan Bajo? Should I fly to Labuan Bajo and do a day trip? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you! ...

Bali over Easter

Posted by mattd82 on 26/1/2012 at 03:30

Hi all, My partner and I will be meeting in Bali for about 10 days over Easter and I was looking for some suggestions as to where to go. We've bounced through Bali a few times on route to other parts of Indonesia, but haven't really seen much of the island outside of the Kuta/Denpasar area which we'd like to steer well clear of this time! Matt will be coming from, and return back to Timor Leste so we'd like to keep it chilled, I'm thinking 2 sleeping destinations only. Maybe about 6 days beach ...

Balangan surfing questions

Posted by jordeer on 25/3/2012 at 22:04

Hello-- I'm a single female traveling alone to Bali in about a month, and I'd like to take some surf lessons--but nothing too committed like a surf camp. I am really attracted to Balangan beach (Kuta seems waaaay too intense for me in terms of atmosphere), but it seems like maybe the surf might be too advanced for someone who has only surfed twice in her life. So, I have two questions: 1. Is it worth it for me to go to Balangan as a beginner? 2. Has anyone ever tried Balangan Surf School? Is it ...
