30 Days in Malaysia

Posted by magnum on 27/7/2013 at 07:09

Hey everyone, Currently coming to the end of a great month and a half in Thailand and moving on to Malaysia in the next few days. With the 30 day visa I'm keen to see some of peninsular and bornean Malaysia but really not sure how to split the time. Wanting to see Georgetown, Cameron highlands, Perenthians and possibly KL before heading to Bornean Malaysia. Any thoughts on what order to do these 4, is KL worth seeing or is it just another city? Also, how long should I spend on the mainland, 3 ...

Bario and Kelabit Highlands questions

Posted by klb5050 on 13/7/2013 at 05:46

Hello all. I am pretty set on spending around 4 days in and around Bario in the Kelabit Highlands in the middle of October this year. I just have a few questions. 1. How expensive is it for a solo traveller compared to other parts of Malaysia? Is it comparatively cheaper or more expensive? 2. How much can I expect to pay for a guide per day if I were to take a longer trek? 3. Is bottled water available to be purchased in Bario? I feel like it probably is, but I just want to be sure. If not, I g ...

SUGGESTED ITINERY FOR MALAYSIA When webegan to research our two month trip around Malaysia we really didn't know whatto expect, where to go, or what to see. Hopefully, the following will help youto plan a trip to this wonderful, modern, friendly country. It is moreexpensive than say, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia "“ in our experience anice meal for two with a beer each cost around £10 - £12 "“ you can of courseeat for much less if you eat from street vendors or Ch ...

Has anyone ever flown KL to Langkawi... is it a 'little' plane?

Posted by rledez1990 on 2/6/2013 at 08:01

We're looking to take an internal flight from KL to Langkawi mid-May next year, but we hate flying! We can make our peace with big planes but the idea of having to go on a little 12-seater propeller plane is not our idea of a good time! Has anyone ever taken this flight before and if so can they advise what sort of plane it is? The only other option is a lengthy and more expensive overnight train/bus/boat combo that might not even be possible at that time of the year anyway... Thanks in adv ...

Langkawi-Koh Lipe Ferry in mid-late May

Posted by rledez1990 on 3/6/2013 at 04:52

Hey We're planning on flying to Langkawi from KL in mid-May, then afterwards plan to head over to Thailand. The closest airport with regular flights seems to be Phuket but the flights aren't that cheap so we're thinking a ferry might be a better choice. We also hate flying so we like to avoid it where possible! There seems to be conflicting info on various websites regarding ferries from the Telaga Terminal - some places say the ferries run once a day up until 31st May, others say the las ...

Malaysia Itinerary for 9 days

Posted by Alexdoz on 14/5/2013 at 23:50

My wife and I are thinking of travelling to Malaysia at at the end of June / start of July for 9 days. We were thinking of doing the following - flying in between destinations as it seems very cheap (only $15 with firefly with advanced booking): - KL for 1 or 2 days - fly to Perhentian Islands for 3 days - fly to Penang for 3 days - fly back to KL for 1 day to wind down. I have already looked into the flights, so know the above is possible. Not sure if it's too much for the short time we hav ...

Malaysia in October/November

Posted by skezmyster on 16/5/2013 at 14:34

Hello, I am planning maybe 5-6 weeks in Malaysia around October/November time. I am concerned about the weather at this time of year though. From what I have read, it sounds like the Perenthian Islands will likely be shutdown. But how about the West Coast? Has anyone been there at this time of year and would you still recommend it? We would like a mix of beaches and more adventurous stuff. Obviously weather is not such a big deal for some activities, but I am wondering what it will be like on ...
