HCMC to Hanoi - time/expense/stopovers?

Posted by mrkarlholland on 20/11/2008 at 22:11

I will be entering vietnam from Phnom Penh (how is this journey?) and heading to HCMC and then up to Hanoi. I was wondering if you have any tips on the best route north (cheapest/quickest). I am looking at flying out from Hanoi to Bangkok so would prefer not to fly. It looks a fair distance to travel in one go so any tips on places to stop over on the way would be appreciated. Thanks ...

Hello, I plan to fly from Luang Prabang to Hanoi on Weds 10 December and one of the options is Vietnam Airlines. I looked on their website but seems they do not have an online booking facility. Does anyone know which agents websites are authorised to sell their tickets that the airline will honour? (I am in UK). Thanks, Sarah ...

vietnameasytravel.com / vietnamanztravel.com - any good?

Posted by tramline on 20/11/2008 at 15:28

Anyone have any experience of buying plane tickets or anything else from vietnameasytravel.com / vietnamanztravel.com ? I've been trying to buy domestic flights with Vietnam Airlines via this travel agent. Initially they were speedy in replying to email queries; then, after sending them credit card details (inc scan of card) they went quiet and ignored me. Then (several days later) I received E-ticket emails from the travel agent (not the airline), but the ticket no's don't check out on vietn ...

Hotel Deposit Payment - Credit Card Authorization

Posted by joha on 17/9/2008 at 13:16

We booked a room for 5 Nights at the HanoiElegance2 Hotel. Now they want us to make a deposit Payment, which we are willing to do, but the offered options for that are a bit problematic. The amount is 80 Dollars. 1. Western Union - additional fee would be about 25$ 2. Bank Transfer - additional fee would be more than 30$ 3. Credit Card - sounds fine first, but they need a signed authorization letter plus the scanned top AND back side of the card. This last option makes us a bit wea ...

Hanoi to Sapa to Luang Prabang overland?

Posted by DLuek on 19/6/2008 at 05:18

Has anyone travelled this route through the mountains of northern Vietnam and Laos? Is it possible? We'll most likely be there around August '09. Could rain be a (big) issue? Would it be more sensible to go Hanoi to Sapa and back then fly from Hanoi to Luang Prabang for around $200 on Vietnam Air? Peace, David ...

Traveling overland from Vietnam to Luang Prabang, Laos

Posted by WisconsinProf on 27/8/2008 at 20:45

I am considering (while bringing a group of univ. students in Jan 09) getting from Vietnam to Laos by going overland (other option is to return to Hanoi for a flight). Apparently it will look like this -- Mai Chau, transfer to Son La, transfer to Dien Bien Phu, cross the border into Laos, transfer to Nong Khiaw, then full day boattrip to get to Luang Prabang. Sounds adventurous (which I like) and there can be many village stops along the way....but is the time traveling (several hours a d ...

Visa for Vietnam

Posted by jtourettes on 13/11/2008 at 18:43

Hi, my girlfriend and I are going on holiday to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand next week and we were going to pick up our visas from the embassy in London tomorrow but I've noticed that this is for single entry only. I'm not sure whether my trip would count as single entry as when we're in Vietnam we are going to be flying to Pho Quoc and I don't know whether returning from there would count as a double entry? Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance. ...
