2 questions: Rainy day activities in Nha trang, and postal service in Vietnam

Posted by kramer05 on 22/10/2008 at 10:49

Hello! I'm in Nha Trang and it's raining. Can you recommend any activities to do during the day? It can't be too far away because I have to meet someone back in Nha Trang in the evening. Also, I want to ship some things back to the USA. Have you found the Vietnam postal service to be safe and efficient? Has anyone lost their things in the mail? Thanks so much in advance! PS I have been lurking on this site for about 6 months and it's been incredibly helpful. Thanks so much! ...

Da Lat <> Nha Trang - how long???

Posted by frankyday on 24/10/2008 at 11:22

Hi there, From the guidebook and open tour bus schedule, it takes around 7 hours from Da Lat to Nha Trang. And the open tour bus typically starts 7am something from Da Lat. From this website, I noted that there is a new road which shorten the distance quite a lot, which means it takes only around 3 hours to Nha Trang. I would like to know is the new road right now already in full use? And it seems Open Tour Bus or other public bus does NOT go thru this road, right? If I would like ...

Hi guys, Sorry if this one has been asked before, but can anyone recommend a good travel agent in Vietnam to book some internal flights? Im in Australia, so I am unable to book flights on the vietnam airlines website. An agent with vietnam airlines here in Sydney suggested I book the flights with an agent over there but could not recommend any specifically. I have found one by the name of vietnamopentour.com but any good recommendations would be great. Cheers, Jason. ...

Sapa/Bac Ha Trip- Handspan or on our Own?

Posted by Elih500 on 17/10/2008 at 13:17

Hello, We are from the US and traveling to Vietnam in a week. I've never considered a tour, but everyone suggested doing some pre-booking for the north. For a "private tour" through one of the reputable tour companies in Hanoi we were quoted $714 for train, 1 night hotel in Bac ha, 2 in Sapa, guide/car for 4 days. When I asked if I could just book a train, 2 day guide and 1 Bac ha night so we could be free the rest of the time, the price only went down $13 and I was informed that the 2 berth ...

Hue, HoiAn or PhuQuoc

Posted by kathyt on 22/9/2008 at 11:01

I have 13 days in Vietnam starting in Hanoi. Is this enough time to see Hue & HoiAn and take the train along the coast eventually spending time in the Mekong Delta, or is it better to fly to HCMC and go to PhuQuoc and visit the Mekong Delta at a much slower pace? Are Hue and HoiAn must visits or are they over commercialized? ...

Vietnam warning

Posted by rsawyer5 on 17/9/2008 at 19:28

Hey everyone just wanted to give a warning about Vietnam. I just spent a month and a half there and had quite a few terrible encounters. Literally everywhere we went someone was trying to rip us off. The biggest one coming in Ha Long Bay where they tried to charge us 3 times the price of the trip. If you plan on going there make your reservations in Hanoi. Also dont ever accept anything from a hotel (ex. bottle of water) or napkins at a restaurant without asking if you have to pay for it. I got ...
