But would be nice to have other options to think about it and see where looks best. I will be going for 3 months + as I am buying a one way ticket I want to stretch out ...

Floating markets in Can Tho-- is it worth the time to see Phong Dien?

Posted by mtn77 on 7/10/2014 at 17:34

Hi fellow travelers, We'll be heading down from HCMC to Cai Be then to Can Tho for 2 nights. Some of the local tours offer the option of a longer boat trip ( 5 hours) to include Phong Dien as well as Cai Rang. Is this worthwhile doing or should we just opt for the shorter visit to Cai Rang? The reviews are mixed, so hoping to hear from someone who has visited both areas. Thanks. ...

Solo travel 1month In Vietnam - Some Suggestions

Posted by LolaDarlin on 8/10/2014 at 08:29

Hi all, I'm a girl going to travel solo the whole December in Vietnam, arriving in Hanoi and departing from HCMC. I'd like to have some suggestions as: - Is Phu Quoc Island too quiet and too much "for couples" in Christmas days? I mean, I don't need to hang out and drink all the time, but a little nightlife and nice time would be appreciated. And do I need to book ahead as the island seems to be too busy? - Which is the best way (cheaper and faster) to reach Angkor Wat for a sho ...

November on a Halong-Bai Tu Long Bay junk - what to wear?

Posted by JazzyJ on 25/10/2014 at 21:59

Wardrobe planning assistance needed for junk cruise the first of November. Even early November is cool, they say, up north. On a junk in Halong or Bai Tu Long Bays, it might feel even chilly, right? Or, is this just relative to local averages as well as to who you are and what you're accustomed to? We're familiar with living in the climate of southern Taiwan which right now (late October) ranges from 22C-28C (72F-85F) with humidity around about 60-75%. What should we expect and what should w ...

My questions are: -will option (2) give us a "taste" of a Mekong Delta tour? -If so, is this something I can book from Siem Reap (or beforehand)? -what does the trip entail? Custom made ao dai and other Vietnamese women's clothing in HCMC (or Can Tho) for a man.

Posted by man_in_ao_dai on 21/7/2014 at 21:42

Hi. I'll be in Southern Vietnam (HCMC, Can Tho, Mekong Delta) in a few months. I'm wondering if anyone here can recommend a tailor who can make ao dai for a reasonable price (decent quality, but not too expensive). Would it be real silk? How much for one of those pretty plain white ones ? What about colored ones? The thing is, I'm a man. But I do want to get a regular women's ao dai. Would this cause any issues? Also, can one get a yem made (traditional Vietnamese women's undergarment)? How much ...
