Hanoi-Hue-Hoi An in one day?

Posted by dwbpnm on 18/2/2013 at 09:30

My wife and I will be in Vietnam in April and are planning on travelling to Hoi An after a few days in Hanoi. We'd like to visit the Imperial city in Hue . Is it possible to do the O/N train to Hue, tour the Imperial city, a couple tombs, and then continue on to Hoi An while it's still light out for the bus/car/train ride through the Hai Van pass? I know it'd be a hectic day but we're generally pretty quick at seeing sights and will have the next day to relax on the beach in Hoi An. Is it ...

July 2013 - Phu Quoc or Mui Ne?

Posted by Ross81 on 20/2/2013 at 12:48

We will be travelling around Vietnam for 3 weeks in July. We want to have a few days at the end relaxing on a beach and can't decide between Phu Quoc or Mui Ne. My instincts tell me to go to Phu Quoc but I know it is the rainy season so I wondered if it would be worth going to or would the weather be slightly better in Mui Ne? Any advice would be much appreciated. ...

Advice on travelling Saigon-Hanoi? Bamba Experience?

Posted by mpmcintosh94 on 13/2/2013 at 06:00

Hi all, I'll be arriving in Saigon mid May and will be there until 20th June. During this period my rough plan is to travel from Saigon to Hanoi, what lies in between I guess depends on my travel method and how spontaneous I'm feeling. The company 'Bamba Experience' seems really good to me, its a Hop-on Hop-off bus pass in simple terms. It is valid for 12months and you book online a few days before you plan to begin the route. There's various trips or tours or experiences along the way which a ...

Where to cycle to from Hanoi?

Posted by punx4life on 13/2/2013 at 20:44

We are landing in Hanoi in a few weeks. Looking to hit up the Hanoi Biking Collective, rent a bike and cycle somewhere and return back. We are looking to cycle and return in 4 nights - the route should be scenic and not too challenging (we are fine with highways but perhaps not deathtrap motorways). What is an ideal place to cycle to that we can cover in the 4 nights specified? ALSO: What's communiations with locals and accommodation prospects like once you have gone off the beaten path? ...

Best way to not do much in Vietnam?

Posted by Sightandtaste on 29/1/2013 at 08:59

Hi, I want to do a bit of Vietnam from end of March to May. I don't have much of an itinerary at the moment, but I DON'T want to go from place to place and just 'fit everything in'. I just want to relax. And EAT. And I might stay longer. The only thing I have set my heart on at this present time is - Hoi An - I have been referred to Redbridge Cooking school for a cooking and foodie fix. This may be the only planned and guided tourist activity I do. Organic herb garden, shopping for ingredients a ...

Quick, cheap way to get from Hoi An to Bangkok

Hi. Me and my wife will need to get from Hoi An to Bangkok. I'm struggling to find a relatively cheap, fast way to do this, but I either get expensive quotes, or it takes a long time. Options: * A Flight from Da Nang or Hue would be first choice - Does any budget carrier fly this route? ** Night train to HCMC or Hanoi and budget flight - Which way is faster / better? Currently this looks like the best value/time option. My biggest difficulty is that I can't seem to find a budget carri ...

Tourist Herding & Decoy-Duck Dilemma in Vietnam

Posted by WanderJuan on 29/1/2013 at 23:39

I've read this Ha Long Bay news about the current state of things in the area. It's kind of sad to see that there are agencies doing this to tourists who want to visit. The government should do more to preserve the integrity of Ha Long Bay and preserve its natural beauty. The lack of infrastructure and proper agencies add on to the current dilemma that the bay is facing. It doesn't help that the agencies and support groups being assembled overlap each other creating chaos and confusion. This ...

A few questions: 1. If booking a room on line, I want to make sure I am understanding what a double room is. We need two beds, can be two twins or better. Is that a double room. Or if I specfify double, I get one double bed? 2. Is there an e ...
