Has anyone stay in these hotels before? Which one is the most convenient - where the airport shuttle ( the tiger air and Vietanam airline shuttle )pass by? Looking forward to hearing from you. ...

The standard tourist south to north

Posted by Clay1963 on 30/8/2015 at 18:05

A revised 17-day itinerary. Did not get much response my last itinerary post but maybe because these are just destinations seen on many Vietnam itineraries. Any thoughts on these 5 destinations for a 17-day itinerary in Vietnam? I am not sure what excursion from Hanoi if any. Also, I thought about cutting Hoi An or Hue, or both, and flying to Siem Reap, or just adding those days to Hanoi and HCMC. Also have some interest in Phnom Penh and Luang Prabang (my son mentioned Bangkok) but inste ...

We arrive at bkk on a monday afternoon and fly out to Hanoi that Wednesday at 2pm. Have read here that its easiest to get a voa for Vietnam whilst in Asia. Our stay in Vietnam will be about 30 days long. Are we cutting it too fine to get a voa in bkk in less than 2 days? Also I have read that if we get a voa in the uk, b4 we fly out, (mid sept), the 30 days starts from day of issue. My guess to the easiest would be to apply for a 3 month voa now, here in the UK. What company did you use? ...

I have been communicating with a "reputable" travel agency/tour company in Hanoi. I asked about going to Halong Bay and Cat Ba and they wrote the following, which seems strange: "Cat Ba island is unrecommended because it's almost for local people only." Why would they tell us this? Should I drop this idea? ...

Hi all! First post for me on Travelfish though I have been digging the site for info for all of our recent travels in South East Asia (Thailand twice\ Cambodia \ Malesia \ Indonesia). I am hoping to find some suggestions on how to arrange two weeks in Vietnam + one week in Laos this August. Contrary to most I need suggestions on what to skip! There is just too much to see and our time is limited. First of all: should we limit ourselves to Vietnam? Ideally I have the following plan, any suggestio ...

Vietnam Visa Changes - Urgent Advice Please!!

Posted by numan99 on 7/7/2015 at 05:54

On July 1st 2015 Vietnam changed its visa regulations to give exemptions to travelers from a few countries including the UK. I'm currently in Phnom Penh and am planning on traveling overland via coach in the next couple of days. When I last checked I thought I was going to need to get a visa from the embassy here in order to cross into Vietnam but, being a UK passport holder, it seems like this is no longer the case? Can someone please confirm this as I don't want to get turned away at the b ...

We are currently in Phong Nha, and our plan was moving north to Halong Bay for few days, but we've read in the news about the floodings in the north, and also met some travellers whose trips to Halong Bay have been cancelled few days ago, due to the bad conditions of the area. We've asked in our homestay but they don't really know what the situation is over there, and we can't really find any reliable information in the net.. Some travellers advice to spend few days before heading to that part, ...

North Vietnam with a baby (Sapa and Ha Giang)

Posted by Blt_travel on 22/7/2015 at 16:02

Hi, We are a couple with a baby (one year and a half). I have to thank Travelfish because this web has been really helpful for us to plan our trip to Vietnam. However, we still have some doubts about our trip, especially about Sapa . Taking into account that we travel with a baby, we are only considering activities with private guide and private car (in case it is needed). This might be more expensive but we need to go at our own pace. We want to be in Sapa for 5 days. We arrive in Satur ...
