Visa for travelling in and out of Thailand

Posted by Jaymo89 on 4/8/2014 at 07:40

Hi there, I'm struggling to understand the visa rules and how I should go about obtaining them for my trip. Basically, when I first arrive I'll be spending a week in Thailand before I leave for Cambodia and Vietnam for 3 weeks then back to Thailand for my friend to fly home and my other friend arriving a week later. I'll be in Thailand for another week then leaving again for Vietnam. I'll then be travelling alone and would probably like to see Thailand in a bit more depth and will definately be ...

Hey there. I begin travelling on 20th April 2013. I'm going to - Thailand for around 2 weeks - Cambodia for around 1 week - Vietnam for around 4 weeks (maybe under or over 30 days) I'm happy with how the Thai and Cambodian visas work and im not really worried about them. But I need some advice on When/Where/How to buy my Vietnam visa. Is it easy and cheaper to buy in Cambodia? or Thailand? Or in England? I've heard that it can begin to expire from the day you buy it? And also how do you go a ...

Indonesia Visa in Bangkok

Posted by smkuchta on 11/6/2009 at 16:31

The wife and I just got our Indonesian Visas in Bangkok and I thought I'd summarize the process asI couldn't find anything already out there. Visa application is 9-12 M-F. Pickup is 1400-1500, two days later. We arrived Tues morning about 855am, nobody waiting out front, the door opened 5 minutes later and we submitted our application, copy of itinerary showing flight out of Indonesia,2 photos each, a copy of each passport and $45 each (1 CAN & 1 USA passport). Embassy website says b ...

Southern Thailand to Langkawi overland/sea

Posted by Anamarie29 on 12/5/2014 at 21:36

Hi there. I'm currently on Ko Tao and will be looking to move across to Krabi in the next few days. I need to be out of Thailand by 23 May and am planning to head to Langkawi or Penang (first stop). Do you have any advice on the routes available from Krabi (or anywhere more appropriate - possibly a train?) to either Langkawi or Penang. Also I know I don't need a visa but will be granted (hopefully) a 3 month stay, where would the boarder crossings take place? Thanks in advance! Ana ...

Has anyone gotten this 15-day visa or know any more information about it? "The one option available in Phnom Penh that isnt available online is a 15-day tourist visa. These can be only obtained through travel agents and not through the embassy directly." - http://www.travelfish.org/blogs/cambodia/2011/04/06/how-to-get-a-vietnamese-visa-in-phnom-penh/#comment-10430 I'll be travelling from: Siem Reap, Cambodia -> Phnom Penh, Cambodia -> Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and looking ...

VIP Bus scam for Pai to Luang Prabang border crossing

Posted by evie_eve on 11/3/2014 at 03:15

Please a word of warning, do not book through Terminal Green travel agency in Pai for the 'VIP' bus to Luang Prabang in Laos. It is a total scam! the picture of the bus is completely different to the bus you will get on the other side, which is the local broke down bus. And there is no proper support during the visa/border process so you don't know where you are going next, who is meeting you on the other side etc...the 'hotel' you stay at the night before is AWFUL... No email address or we ...

Urgent Vietnam visa question

Posted by sirknigget on 19/2/2014 at 04:32

Hello, A few days ago I gave my passport to an agency in Kampot, Cambodia, in order to get a 30-day Vietnam visa valid from 23/2/2014 (the date I wish to enter). Today I came to get my passport back, and when I checked the visa stamp, I saw that the validity dates are 18/2-17/3 - which is clearly not what I asked for - it reduced my stay time by 5 days. After some arguing and demanding a partial refund (because I'll need to do visa extension in order to stay 1 month as planned), the lady called ...

Vietnam Airport - Urgent

Posted by SEATraveler2 on 4/3/2014 at 01:21

Hey guys, I'm heading from Thailand to Canada in 2 days, and have bought 2 separate tickets to get home - an AirAsia flight from Bangkok to HCMC, and then a China Airlines flight leaving HCMC after a 5 hour layover. I was told by a number of people that I will not need a visa, as I will not be leaving the airport. Im starting to get a bit concerned however, as I didn't confirm the fact that it was with 2 different airlines. Can someone confirm whether I need one or not? Thank you! ...

Kep to Can Tho travel advice

Posted by Hbuttemer on 17/12/2013 at 19:47

We are currently in Kampot , headed to Kep and then onwards to Can Tho, Vietnam We have our Vietnam visas. We are having a debate about whether we should hire a minibus tour (eg Kampot Tour and Travel) to take us through to Can Tho, or just go it ourselves - take a tuk tuk to border, hire a moto to bus station in Ha Thien, get a bus to Can Tho. In some ways, the minibus tour seems easier since everything is arranged. Any advice would be welcome. ...

30 days overland Visa-exemption received today

Posted by somanights on 13/11/2013 at 10:45

Hi - did a thai Visa run today over the Myanmar border at Mae Sai. Much to our great surprise, we were given until 12 December, not the 15 days we were expecting. This happened with both me and my girlfriend, both UK passport holders. Was this an aberration, or have we missed something, or what? Everything we've read says 15 days, including signage at the border. Also: we don't actually plan to use 13 days, just extending briefly to enjoy Loi Krathong. If we return next year as planned, will t ...

Extending 15 day overland visa exemption in Thailand

Posted by surferRosa on 23/11/2009 at 19:01

I wanted to find out if I could get a tourist visa or somehow extend my overland 15 day visa exemption from within Thailand. I found similar questions but no definitive answers on this venerable website, so I decided to go to the immigration office in Bangkok to see for myself, here's what I found out. Of course, if this question has been answered somewhere then please delete the post. Basically you can get a 7 day extension on the 15 day overland exemption, costing you 1,900 baht, and th ...
