laos visa in hanoi, April 2008

Posted by cplhsu on 22/4/2008 at 17:46

Just thought I'd let any Aussie travellers know.... the going rate for a visa in Hanoi is $45 USD, you get it the next day - and this is at the Lao embassy visa branch located at 40 P Quang Trung, near Bay Nau Lake. The address listed in the LP for Lao embassy is correct, but they dont do visas there. You can get a visa for a similar price from the travel agencies around town but they tend to quote you different figures - between $45 to 50, for a visa in 2 days. The advantage is that you dont ...

I've been reading all the posts regarding getting a Vietnam Visa in Phnom Penh. When getting it from a guest house/travel agency or the Vietnam Embassy itself, does that come with the approval letter? Don't like making big mistakes! I'm planning ahead for December travel. Thanks! Dick:) ...

One Way Flight Into Thailand - Visa Issues

Posted by johnnyowen on 21/7/2008 at 00:36

Hey all. The girlfriend and I bought 2 x one way tickets from the UK to Thailand as we're planning on travelling round there, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam then staying and working in Phuket for a bit before heading down through Malaysia and Indonesia into Oz. We only bought a one-way ticket as we didnt know where we'd be flying back to the UK from and for ahow long we'd be away. I realise if we're stopped at immigration we could be in a bit of trouble but has anyone ever done this before and if ...

30day or tourist visa?

Posted by smithjaco on 4/7/2008 at 13:13

I plan to go to Thailand in August and am unsure whether to get a visa or not. My return ticket would be from Bangkok, but the time between arrival and departure would be 10weeks. I do intend to travel to Laos and Cambodia. Would i need to get a tourist visa, or would i be able to do it on the free 30-day visa thing? I don't intend to stay for more than 30days at a time in Thailand, but when going through immigration would they need to see a tourist visa? or telling them that i plan to travel to ...

Another account of border crossing at Nameo-Namxoi (Feb 2007)

Posted by krisztinita on 28/2/2007 at 19:09

For those who are interested in using this border crossing, let me post our journey from Nong Khiaw in Laos to Than Hoa / Ninh Bin in Vietnam. I indicated the duration of the sangthaew/bus trips, but for the sangthaew we always waited approximately 1 hour from the 'advertised' departure time (loading bags, waiting for passangers etc..) and the number of stops really depended on the passangers. We started off at Nong Khiaw, a nice little village in 3 hours north of Luang Prabang (we did not ta ...

Prek Chak / Xa Xia crossing - Visa On Arrival

Posted by apfennell on 20/5/2008 at 23:50

I'm planning to go to Phu Quoc in mid-august for ~4days and then onto Phnom Penh. I was planning to get the boat to Ha Tien from Phu Quoc - can anyone confirm if this is actually running in August (times/cost?)? My main worry is the crossing to Cambodia and getting a visa - I emailed the Cambodian Embassy in London (I'm actually Irish but they handle Irish requests) and they said Visa On Arrival is available at that crossing. However seeing as I can find no confirmation of this online by trav ...

4 entries into thailand

Posted by emielvl on 30/11/2007 at 08:43

I plan to have 4 entries into thailand on my next asia trip (each of the 4 periods of stay not exceeding 30 days). My total time in asia will be almost 6 months. Am i right if i say that i cannot do this on visa exemptions? (because a maximum of 3 is allowed, one initial entry and 2 renewable consecutive times)? What are my other options? is it perhaps possible to apply beforehand for a 1 entry tourist visa, use this one the first time and use the other 3 times a visa exemption? What about t ...

Vietnamese visa in Seam Reap

Posted by ade7 on 5/5/2008 at 01:06

Hi, I am hoping to travel from seam reap to saigon, and was wandering whether I can get a vietnamese visa in seam reap (although i will be passing through Phnom Penh, I will only be staying one day there, so would rather get the visa in SR, where I will be staying a few days). Is there a vietnamese embassy in Seam Reap? Or will it have to be done through an agency? Any idea on how long it takes to process and how much they are to purchase? Thanks very much for any help you can offer. Cheers, ...

Double entry tourist visa in Thailand

Posted by madindaelephant on 13/4/2008 at 09:51

Hello all, I have a double entry tourist visa (allowing me to stay in Thailand 60 days at a time) at the moment and I've already used up both entries. First entry was in February when I first entered the country and then in late March I went to Myawaddy. My passport says I have to leave the country by May 20. Before returning to the states I wanted to go to Cambodia, but I'm not sure if I would be able to re-enter Thailand (I'll stay in Bangkok 5 days until my flight). My double entry visa ...
