Street colours

Patan, Kathmandu (Nepal 2011). This colourful woman lives on the streets of Patan, Kathmandu. She was terribly shy, it took me fifteen minutes to convince her, but finally she agreed to pose. I like the contrast between her colourful outfit (I love the hat) and the sadness in her eyes. And of course, I was more than happy to buy her some food afterwards. Though not always possible, I like to give something back. Whether that be a smile, a joke, a friendly conversation or some small change.
