Bedugul is the name commonly used to describe the area surrounding Lake Beratan in the mountains in the centre of Bali, on the main road between Singaraja and Lovina in the north and Denpasar, Sanur and Seminyak in the south.
The area actually contains a number of discrete villages, with Candikuning being the one most tourists stop at. This is the spot drivers often drop off guests for a look around the local produce market. Also located within Candikuning is one of the most photographed temples in Bali, Pura Ulun Danu Beratan.
