Moving south for another kilometre from Khlong Jak, a steep winding road leads to the jungle-surrounded Ao Mai Pai. This hidden away, beautiful cove is the southernmost beach on Ko Lanta before the beginning of the national park.

Ao Mai Pai has a white-sand beach and a small reef offshore which is quite a good snorkelling spot. The reef does hamper swimming at low tide, so this is a beach where you need to be up on your tidal charts.

The selection of places to stay here is likely to be bolstered eventually, but overall if you're going to travel to the southern tip of Ko Lanta, rest assured you should be in for a relatively quiet stay. On the beach, there’s only one accommodation option, which is of a high standard but well-priced.

Getting to and from this beach poses a problem, but the resort offers a pick up and drop off service from the pier.
