Being a small provincial city, Banyuwangi has its fair share eating options, though most will prefer to head to the road from where the best accommodation is and eat at one of the local warungs selling nasi goreng, mie goreng, cap cay and other Indonesian favourites.Located on Jalan MT Haryono, these warungs offer great value for money charging only 6,000 rupiah for a nasi goreng and similar local prices for anything else.
In the heart of Bondowoso on Jalan Letnan Sudiono a large cluster of warungs appears nightly serving up a wide array of Indonesian favourites such as martabak.
The prices are keen and the quality of food on offer is top notch, as evidenced by the huge number of local people that come here for dinner. From most hotels in town, it is only a short walk to this main eating area.
