There is nothing too remarkable on Ao Wong Duen as far as entertainment is concerned, but the food is good and people flock here for it. Candlelit restaurants illuminate the beach at night, and it's easy to enjoy a decadent seafood feast without breaking the budget.
In keeping with the resort's hip atmosphere, the bar and restaurant at Vong Duern Villa offers the best spot on the beach to chill out. Isolated on the far southern corner with views of the waves crashing upon rocks, it has axe pillows and white canvas lounges to go with private concrete booths built right at the edge of the ocean -- perfect for an intimate party or romantic dinner. The menu offers solid value, with well-prepared Thai and European seafood dishes.
The Baywatch Bar anchors the centre of the beach from 16:00 onwards. Tall wooden barstools surround the chilled out beach bar, and bean bags bid travellers to sit down and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Along with well-priced beer and cocktails, they serve a few Dutch and German dishes to go with sandwiches on house-made bread and some of the best pizza on Samet. Be warned: they have a Bay Watch Babe competition. If you're looking for a round of billiards to accompany a pizza and cocktails, nearby Tom Pizza bar is another beach bum favourite.
