Wiang Pa Pao cranks out a few food stalls in the early evening, and there are a couple of typical Thai restaurants in town (aside from the vegetarian place mentioned below) - you won't starve.

Located a few km to the south of Wiang Pa Pao, this PDA financed resort is convenient for a coffee break the the accommodation doesn't appear to get too much traffic. Its impossible to miss due to its frequent signs every 100 metres or so out of Wiang Pa Pao. This is a popular spot for tourist buses to stop off, the food is OK, short massages are available, so buy a bag of cookies to support a worthy cause.

Vegetarian restaurant - Basic but tasty
Centre of town, not far from the wat - Chiang Rai

This small vegetarian restaurant does basic Thai vegetarian food (mostly curries) in an open air setting. Look out for the massive yellow flyer on the western side of the road reading Vegetarian Food - you can't miss it.
