Halong City
Eat and meet
Ha Long City
While any seafood you order in Ha Long is likely to be fresh and tasty, otherwise, the food scene in Halong City is hardly stellar. There's a line of restaurants along Ha Long Road as you head west from Vuon Dao, some of which offer western fare, but we found some of it pretty awful, so beware. You'll do just as well at one of the seafood places at the base of Vuon Dao Street.
For a bit more polish and some western dishes, head up Vuon Dao to the Asia Restaurant. For a truly upscale meal, all of the better hotels located along Ha Long Road have ritzy restaurants that are worth a try.
The ever-popular bia hoi (draught beer) is on tap here as elsewhere in Vietnam -- there are a few good places on the bay just east of Vuon Dao Rd. with views of the water that should charge about 2,000 dong per glass.
