Chinatown

Great local eats

Photo of Chinatown

What we say: 4 stars

Chinatown is not only a great place to walk around to soak up the atmosphere, but it also boasts a large number of eateries featuring food that is often more difficult to find throughout Indonesia.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights the night market here fires up and the range of food on offer is extraordinary with pork featuring heavily.

Hundreds of people descend to listen to crooning Barry White wannabees, chow down on delicious local food and bask in the authentic Chinese Indonesian atmosphere which in many parts of Indonesia has historically been suppressed.

Outside of market times there are a small selection of warungs to check out which also serve up tasty meals. This is not a bad stop for lunch during your stay in town.
