Aashifa

Flavourful vegetarian food

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 4 stars

With a menu covering cuisines from various regions of India, Malaysia and China, and a large section of vegetarian dishes, there is something for everyone at Aashifa.

This is probably the most well-seasoned Indian food in town, each dish bearing a distinct flavour and cooked according to tradition. Curries and biryani are excellent, and in addition to the usual naan and roti, they make delicious dosas, a combination of a pancake and a crumpet made from sourdough. Dairy lovers will be pleased to find that the yoghurt and paneer cheese are house-made.

A gorgeous mural of Laos covers the wall, but the comfortable seating is mostly outside. The owner likes to solicit people off the street, which may have the opposite affect of what he wants, but let him beckon you and you'll be in for a tasty treat.
