Pasta and wood-fire pizza

What we say: 3.5 stars

There’s been an explosion of Italian restaurants in Vientiane however Aria was one of the originals. The decor of this long-standing restaurant is somewhat dated but who cares since they have thin-crust wood-fire oven pizzas with high quality toppings, house-made pasta with great sauces, risotto and a range of meat dishes. They also have what looks like an encyclopaedia of Italian wine available.

The good news is that the price range can suit most budgets, with pizzas being the best value menu item and are similarly priced or even cheaper than many other lesser standard pizzas in town. A pizza margherita is 50,000 kip. The weekday 68,000 kip lunch buffet, from 11:30-14:00, is a fantastic bargain. Carbo-load on pizzas, pastas, lasagne and fresh salads.
