Restaurant Le Provencal

A long-running favourite

What we say: 4 stars

For a fine meal at midrange prices, and right beside the fountain, you can't beat Le Provencal.

This long-running favourite serves an excellent variety of traditional French cooking using local and imported ingredients. The deer (imported) cooked in red wine is exceptional and you'll find some of the best steak in town (all beef is imported) prepared with savoury cream sauces or simply grilled (80,000 -120,000 kip). All main courses are served with frites and ratatouille Nicoise.

Though the restaurant is unmistakably French, other European fare like bruschetta, pizza and pasta (from 50,000 kip) are also served, and the wood-fired pizza is particularly delicious.

Attentive service and a charming setting near the Namphu fountain are the icing on the gateau.
