Sek Yuen
This eatery is all about the food
What we say:
A rather tough nut to crack for first time travellers to Kuala Lumpur, Sek Yuen is a venerable cafe in Pudu which has no menu, and little spoken English.
Forget the decor, this eatery is all about the food, which has kept it popular for half a century. While the language and lack of menu are a bit of a headache, it is well worth making the extra effort to enjoy their stand-out dishes including the crispy sweet and sour fish and belly pork.
If in doubt, ask for help from your fellow diners. For character, opt for the older bulding, for air-con, head to the newer building next door.
The nearest LRT is Pudu on the Ampang line, which is a five minute walk away.
