Fukuharu
Better value Japanese
What we say:
One of the better value Japanese restaurants in KL, although certainly not cheap, is Fukuharu.
Particularly recommended are the super fresh sashimi, and sushi, such as the tamago mentai (cod fish roe on an omelette) and aburi moriawase (seared fish).
Fukuhara has a number of set meals in the 40-80 ringgit range, which made for a much less eye-watering bill than is normal at Japanese restaurants. The setting is pleasant too, in a small cluster of eateries, set well back from traffic-clogged Jalan Ampang.
Fukuhura is behind Hock Choon supermarket, in the embassy district of the city. It's a good 20 minute walk from Ampang Park LRT, but plenty of buses run along Jalan Ampang (get off at AmpWalk Mall). Or you can get a taxi.
